Madman album didn't get no whwere near the credit it deserved, such masterful compositions not only by Randy, but the entire band.

Randy Rhodes was always an advocate of classical guitar. Well played sir. I think a Mash reference sums up Randy Rhodes - Winchester to a soldier who was a classical pianist who lost his arm "I can play the notes, but you have the song" Randy Rhodes had the song.

So many people have said including Eddie van halen him self .. that Randy Rhoads as a copy of himself .. so this song and all the two albums with ozzy probe that Randy never sounded like Eddie van halen His writing and style was more heavy and classical influence... EVH was more party rock músic Theres no song from Randy Rhoads that sounds like any van halen song I must mention that i love EVH .. as much as i love Randy Rhoads But if You compare them it's very wrong ..
@patriotsquill
@patriotsquill 10 ай бұрын
Randy Rhoads was definitely influenced by Eddie Van Halen, and picked up a lot of the techniques that Van Halen pioneered, developed, refined and added to the vocabulary of the electric guitar. But if you compare this piece to, say "Little Guitars" you realize that Rhoads was a far more sophisticated composer than Van Halen was. I love both these guys, too, but Eddie Van Halen is basically a rock guitarist with incredible chops and a knack for writing amazing rock riffs. Rhoads was a musician's musician with a deep appreciation of classical music as well as rock, and that musical breadth shows up in his writing. Also, Rhoads is one of the all time masters of the electric guitar solo, while Van Halen's solos are far less interesting and engaging than the songs themselves. Many of Randy Rhoads solos could stand on their own as compositions in and of themselves.

@@patriotsquill I'm not a guitar player but i listen rock music since 1976 .. i just don't find any song from diary of a madman or the Blizzard of ozz that sounds one bit like Eddie Van Halen .. i'm wure that Randy was aware of been compared to Eddie.. but at his 20s i think he developed his owm style .. maybe Eddie played secretly mr Crowley..vor Randy i'm on fire hahaha but Randy could have shown much more but he was gone too soon .. one thing it's for sure .. Randy was respectful about Eddie .. but Eddie wasnt .. Even that i love Eddie he wasnt Nice to Randy

Lee Kerslake played on the original recordings (Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of A Madman albums) and live shows on the UK Blizzard of Ozz tour. Tommy Aldridge joined the band before the start of the US Blizzard of Ozz tour in 1981 and stayed until 1985. Tommy Aldridge final concert with Ozzy was at the Rock in Rio on January 19, 1985 at the end of the Bark at the Moon tour.
