Hey guys, i decided to make a new episode for the Combat Report series today, this time featuring the P-40. For those of you that dont know, in this series i comment on the footage and explain what i did and why. While explaining concepts come up and will be explained. The P-40 is one of my favorites in SB. Scored my first air to air SB kill in one. It has everything I love about the P-36s flight characteristics - super stability - with more power and guns. And it looks awesome. 😎

I have a special love for the P-40 because it was the plane that I used when I started to learn energy fighting and boom n zoom. Since it could do a little bit of everything it was very unforgiving.

I was spading some early Spitfires and I was so shocked at how many guys in P-40's were turn fighting with me. I guess it's not that shocking. It's only 2.7 and most newer players pick America for the size of their tech tree. But oh man, spading my British planes is so much easier than spading my American tree was.

When I first started playing war thunder I knew nothing about ww2 or military aircraft and the first ww2 plane I ever decided to research was the spitfire because I kept getting shot down by them when I would try to turn fight them in my p-40. After I learned my first bit of info on the spitfire, I became fascinated by the spitfire and eventually that turned into a love for ww2 and ww1 history. So people using my ignorance in turn fighting caused me to become obsessed with ww2 history.

I love the p40 but it seems rlly bad at turning I just boom and zoom I must be doing something wrong 🤷

@@ThOmAsSs4563qIf it's the p40e you get good turning at about 350 to 550 speed. You bleed energy fairly fast on a turn so you can turn fight in short bursts, at least that's how it always goes for me, who knows maybe I suck too.

P-40 a beautiful aircraft that tends to get overshadowed by more famous aircraft but, it was there and reliable tough bird and I hope to see you jengar in rank iii USA 🇺🇸 or something else.

I learned how to play airrb with the p-40e1. It had the engine and a thick piece of steel to protect the pilot. My tactic wass to head on everything. I learned from that. I'm not sure but I feel like the front 9.5mm piece of armor use to be bigger.

Is vertical energy loss a lot more noticeable in Realistic? I've been playing Arcade, any any time I try to go vertical they just follow me for days. What are some good evasive tactics with this plane? Seems like any time I get anywhere near a furball I just can't escape to reset.

the FM's are very different in AB, vertical energy limitations are one of them.

*A LOT* Unless you've got a bunch of speed and a very good elevator, a vertical maneuver will eat a lot of energy

So what would have happened if that Mig-3 has gone for you instead of diving on Apollo? Didn't he pretty much have you at a disadvantage at that stage? Would you have tried to dive out, assuming he made no mistakes?

I have been playing simulation Aviation dog fighting battles since I was really little I am 48 years old and have been playing video games console games practically off and on since the very mid-late 70s was introduced to pong and the Atari 2600

I'm still playing (and loving) lower tiers, I got to the P-40s and i just can't make them work. I feel like I have lost every single one of the dozen or so battles I have played in them (E-1 and F-10), my stats say otherwise but that's probably because I have shot a few AI down in it, I am dead certain that I have died every single match in both planes. For now I am sticking with my beloved P-36G - it's got worse guns but craps all over the P-40s in every other respect. Please tell me that this line gets better !

As explained in the video, p40 is not great ! You cannot dogfight enemies with that if you don't have energy superiority. If you want to learn the game at 2.7, better using the f4u-1c (at 2.7, double engine power compared to p40, same guns, more agile, higher climb rate, more thrust,...). Try ! And NEVER go chasing AI or you lose altitude and energy. Stay always the highest guy in game if you can

The P36 is different from most of the other American planes as it climbs and turns fairly well, usually only getting outturned by Japanese planes. The rest of the American line is primarily poor at climbing and good at high speed turning. They have high flap rip speed compared to other countries and can generally take a decent hit. You just gotta change your playstyle to better suit the plane and be more patient in the later tiers.

I am thinking of the P-40 as its own niche halfway between the P-36G and the A-36. I see P-36A's and G's getting "Rank Does Not Matter" all the time in matches.

So you could just imagine practically any and almost every dog fighting fights simulator game that's ever come out I have played with. I drove right into plane with the aviation Department of War Thunder and I'm hooked and enjoying it

Good afternoon, I wanted to say that I am new to the game about three weeks in about to be 4 weeks in or a month, and I am already addicted to the game I'm having issues trying to play the tank battles and have fun getting kills which at the moment is not really going well for me but I did decide that I need to check out the aircraft dog fighting Aviation of this game to check it out

yeah, the Air part of the game has a long learning curve. Watching vids ( i recommend my tutorial series) can help shorten that curve.

What is your favorite rank or BR range to play in? For air I like 2.0 - 5.0 with exception of 7.7-8.7. Ground I prefer 4.0 -6.0

I've barely begun unlocking 5.0 air in USA after 600 hours...I am a slow learner 😂 ... recently started on the Italian air tree to around 2.7 now. I don't know if I'll ever get to the Jet Era in WT tbh...I enjoy the lower BRs so much, I estimate the Servers will be shutting down by the time I've reached 5.0 in all the Air trees in WT, which is not the only Sim I run.

I like to play all br ranges so I don't get bored. But I prefer to fly props above 2.0 rather than jets.

Sorry I'm leaving so many short message comments on here for I believe I can't leave a really large comment but that normally doesn't stop me LOL, though I hope to learn many new things from you from these different videos of the aircraft that you have played with and maybe get to learn about some of the aircraft I really want to get my hands on that I've been wanting to play with since I was a young boy and never had the opportunity because they never brought these awesome planes to the other games the British Spitfire the American P-51 Mustang the Japanese zeros the migs and the other awesome aircraft that has evolved over time
