That old boys wiring and pipework diagram is brilliant. It looks like the return 2 port on the cylinder is to stop self circulation of the system as he couldn't get the return back down to the boiler. Honestly it's pretty ingenious and I've had to install things like that myself on older systems when you can't rip up the floor to get new pipework in. Same with the plate heat exchanger, done that before when people haven't wanted to rip out and replace their one pipe systems.

Hi Pete, just following the blockage checks for the heat exchanger, yet again, a really useful talk through, making these very easy to diagnose which makes for happier customers (and maybe repeat calls as a result).

Great video. On Wb greenstars, just as you sussed the problem from the gurgling, I've found you get to know the correct sequence of sounds from the diverter valve, the pump during air-purge & normal running and the ignition sequence. To me it's like a song & if the tune is wrong you know where to start looking.
@davidb24643 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, your video's are really well edited, and makes things very job related, so the more the merrier. That plate heat exchanger stuff is boggling my mind, but I'm playing it over a few times to try to get to grips with it. That guy that installed the system is a genius. The sparking side is something I leave to my spark, big thumbs up for your electrical knowledge.

Drilled into the neighbours bed while the kid was asleep on it, that's brilliant 🤣🤣🤣. I hadn't known about the temp differences with plate heat exchangers, that's something I'll now apply during an annual service to try catch the issue before it becomes more noticeable. Great work as always on the boiler change but I can't help but think, 1 it was over complicated, why not just install a heat only? And 2 even with the filter and strainer, that plate will eventually block up so its just another part to fail when technically, its not needed in the first place as a heat only would work perfectly fine and be be a cheaper install also. Unless I'm missing something.
@PBPlumber3 жыл бұрын
If we installed a heat only we might have spent hours balancing the system to give us the correct temperature differential and if we couldn’t achieve that the boiler wouldn’t have worked. But then again we could have done it and it worked first time, I guess it’s just the risk you want to take
@kevincranfield52353 жыл бұрын
because when you seperate your primary heating water, you can acheive your diff temps to help with the flow rate through the heat exchanger, which negates overheat and thermal shock. with a system like that i believe you did the correct thing.

Hey bud. Great vid! The plate heat exchanger bit isn't quite right though as boiler pumps go to full rate on hot water so cannot maintain a delta of 20. Instead they just modulate the flame.. the hw side could be anywhere from 40⁰c below the primary flow temp to nearly matching it and be working perfectly fine. Not trying to discredit at all but be helpful. Happy to collar at some point if you want an indepth explanation for your subs!? Keep up the great channel! 😁
