I had my van done some years ago and insurance said because there was no damage done to my transit they didn't class it as a break in and wouldn't cover my tools that got stolen. When I made a statement to the police I told them this and they simply said if it ever happens again just smash the windows and they have to cover it. Not sure what was more surprising, the old bill coming out or telling me to smash the windows.

Although I’m not sure about the 15mm pipes just floating in mid air (outside). They’ll be bent in no time!
@MrWindermere1233 жыл бұрын
Exactly, and no fitting on the bare ends to prevent a cut to anyone who slips in that tub or jumps up from the water below the pipes. I'd be really cheap and put 6 inches of hosepipe onto both pipe ends as a softer option and a slim post to support the pipe run, as you suggested.
@jonathanlanglois27423 жыл бұрын
Hot is always on the left in North America. Older lavatory and bathtub taps have separate valves that are marked with a red and a blue line clearly identifying them . Newer taps have a single mixing valve, but you always know if the water is going to be hot or cold depending on where the handle is facing. To be had, I often don't even bother opening the light when I use the taps, so beyond consistency for blind peoples, this can also benefit peoples who still have full use of their eyes.

But... it fucks me off that I have to do this. I shouldn't have to do this. My tools should be safe on my van. Shit, they should be safe on my own van, after it's locked, on my own fucking driveway. It happened to a chippy down the road. On his driveway. My tools have come off since. Not everyone has the luxury that I have and have to park 100 yds from their house, and live up 5 flights of stairs. Shit needs to be done. It's beyond a joke now!

Hi PB, Firstly, thanks for the masterclass in bending, great work there. I understand your reasoning about the pipework and the regulations. But as they say where reasonably practical. My personal opinion, the small risk of legionnaires is going to come from the water sitting over time in the long pipework run, after being heated by the latent temperature in the house.. But nice tidy work, 👍

On some of your tools if you can fit a Apple Airtag there quite small, disable the internal Airtag sound so they don't know its there, another thing you could do is chain the internal doors all together to say a lockable centre box in the cabin where the chains have a good strong box centre fixing point, they are never going to get those doors off easily 👍 Even if they damage the lock welded chains to the back of each door on a welded plate will make it extremely difficult, Pull ropes at the end of each chain to a cabin lockable secure box, you can get lockable box 📦 drill holes in it for the chains & pull role for the other end, Those vans that have a side door could have a lockable internal bar, reverse van rear doors 🚪 to a wall garage car etc, Just fit the loudest alarm with sealed micro switches, BTW most house alarms have a standby 12 Volt internal battery supply, fit cameras 📷 & if you lable van you could deter them? Its upto you, ? I hope that helps

Had a rad swap once and had to move a grand piano. That was a ball breaker. I think you did the right thing with the pipes really, at the end of they day you just need to make the call and go with it, I’ve never seen a rule on it other than in Ireland they put the hot on a bath nearest the wall so small kids can’t reach it. Glad to see Sam is enjoying the course and learning loads. I’ve taken to removing my tools from the van when I get home it’s a bit of a ball ache but it’s worth the effort I’m sure he just wants to cry, it’s a lot of money and the scum bags only gonna sell it for his next fix. Something does need to be done. Maybe if we all start buying the cheapest vehicle possible and spend the extra on security so that the van companies can’t make a fortune out of the high end vans.

Crazy, being able to pull a corner of a side door then unlocks whole van, crazy days, not just Citroen but other manufacturers I.e. Peugeot but how fucked up is it that insurance won’t pay out to boot 🥾
@Gary-n3 жыл бұрын
The problem with insurance for tools is the policy wording definition normally requires a "forcible and violent" method of accessing the van for theft. Unless that can be demonstrated then insurers can refuse to cover the claim and this has been backed up by various ombudsman decisions. The answer? Someone needs to get an insurance broker to approach underwriters to put together a policy that doesn't include "violence" within the definition as this is the major stumbling block. I suspect any policy like this - if it could be offered to the market - would be accompanied by a loaded insurance premium.

@@matthewsage4525 Hi Matthew, me personally, with your video footage showing unequivocally for this known issue, that you need no tools or keys to gain entry to yours or similar new forcourt citroen vehicles, I would send your video and insurance correspondence to the below team / use these avenues to assist you get some monies back for the wrong doing of the Insurance company and raise awareness: www.bbc.co.uk/send/u23123288?ptrt=www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006mg74 facebook.com/bbcwatchdog/ twitter.com/BBCWatchdog Reason for me to do this, is that when fighting Insurance companies - you need some backing, and this may help prove unequivocally, how it is well known to get into the van without any damage being done to the vehicle, and your Insurance company withholding payment for teh losses as a result are being unreasonable and not fulfilling their obligations. In terms of the other side, Tradies could potentially raise factual questions to @CitroenUK and link these kind of issues of their products on their youtube site - use social media platform to raise awareness (but do not attack or accuse, just question why these known faults are not being addressed quickly and made safe to avoid detracting and getting the wrong outcome, as things need to remain professional to get traction 😉): kzbin.infovideos twitter.com/CitroenUK facebook.com/CitroenUK/ Like you intimated in your video, I too believe that there should be far higher and more significant penalties to make people stop and think before taking the easy route of nicking our gear, plus also for the ones whom buy stolen trades peoples tools, because if you remove the outlet - the demand will help reduce the thefts. Hopefully the Insurance comapany step up and pay out for your stolen tools, as this is a poor show imho..

I came here to say what @Ukjay 71 said. Presumably, this affects the entire PSA Group van platform (Peugeot, Citroen, newer Vauxhall, newer Renault, Toyota) and isn't just a Citroen Dispatch issue? If so that's almost ⅓ of the vans in the UK so the more videos of people getting in without tools or a key the greater the likelihood of people not going to buy their vans.

Hi Pete I agree that not enough is done for our vans. But in reality we have to secure our vans ourselves just like you did because you know how it is out there. When I first got my transporter I got 2 dead locks on the side 1 on the back and 1 on each of the front door. Half the time I don't have them locked but I think they act as a deterrent. To have the attitude why should someone have deadlocks is not practical. Sometimes things are just the way they are If that bloke with the citroen had had deadlocks on that probably wouldn't have happened. Although citroen are shit vans from a security standpoint you can't blame
@duncanblanchard3343 жыл бұрын
Really interesting video, can you explain about the Cadent engineer as in who are they and who do they work for, and why can’t you do what they did ?. It’s infuriating about the van theft, I don’t have a van but i have a nice motorcycle and the amount of security I need to keep it from being stolen is almost making me think of selling it. I think a highly visible deterrent and super loud alarm would maybe put off opportunist thieves, but if they want your van/bike there’s not a lot that can stop them unfortunately. Thanks for the video 👍.
@samstevens93173 жыл бұрын
Only way to get the manufacturers to deal with this is to act with our wallets. Was looking at a new van soon and Citroen Dispatch was an option. Not going to buy one of those now! @@PBPlumber you didn’t the van break in guy did (apologies should of been specific) all the rest of the video was great. Really felt for the guy too and then he dropped the BG service comment just didn’t think it was needed.

@@PBPlumber cheers Pete not your apology to make and believe me I should be the biggest BG hater after what they did! There are/well were a lot of great engineers at BG. Appreciate the reply and keep up the channel it’s great! Oh and a follow back on insta galaxygasservices ;)

If you have a van please put your contact details somewhere visible. I saw a van with the passenger side window smashed in last week, I spent 5 minutes looking for a phone number inside so I could call the owner and give them the bad news. I had to give up in the end.

Spray those pipes up with some clearcoat and they'll stay nice and shiny. I think I would have joined the hot and cold outside, that way they would be less prone to twisting. Good vid as always.

The fault on the dispatch is a joke ive seen the videos online. The day someone’s ends up brutally hurting a van thief is the day it will be taken seriously that people aren’t having it anymore

same thing happened to my work mate last friday and he has a Citroen Dispatch too. but what can you do if no one gives a shit
