Protein loss is a very common symptom in kidney failure. Protein in urine is a sign of the nephrotic syndrome. It is also supposed to be the early sign of kidney disease. Protein loss in kidney patient causes drastic weight loss. Presence of protein makes urine frothy. Kidney’s function is to filter blood and excrete out waste material and fluids. Blood in our body contains albumin, globulin, and protein. And protein loss in the body occurs due to hypertension or diabetes.
IgA Nephropathy also causes protein loss and it becomes important to control the cause. In IgA Nephropathy, immunoglobulin builds up in the body and causes inflammation on kidney tissues. It is important for every kidney failure patient to eat a proper and healthy diet.
Waste material can be controlled in the body of kidney patient by 2 ways:
1. Decreasing the formation of waste material in the body
2. Increasing kidney functioning
Creatinine is supposed to be the important waste material, and increased level of creatinine affects kidney functioning. It becomes important for a kidney failure patient to control the levels of creatinine. Creatinine is a waste product which is produced in our muscles and excreted in the urine.
Patients with high creatinine levels are advised to restrict protein intake. Moong ki daal is the only protein that is advised to kidney patients. Along with creatinine, potassium also increases in the body and it can be controlled by avoiding rooty and leafy vegetables. High levels of potassium can also cause a heart attack. A patient also must not exceed the portion size of 1 cup of fruits or salad and mind the fluid intake.
