@drright712 жыл бұрын
Your current limits are only applicable to the connectors, fuses, and wiring. A real fast charge is 3c (3 times the pack current rating). 1c (1x pack current rating) is considered safe. That means your 20AH pack can take 20A charging rate, and a King GT can take 35A and still be in normal charging. Your wires and connectors probably won't handle that kind of current, but your cells won't care.

I think most people don't take their scooter apart to charge it. By removing the footboard you are allowing the battery and controller to dissipate heat instead of that heat being trapped inside the compartment accelerating the increase in temperature resulting in much higher temperatures. I'd find a follow-up video interesting in which you keep it enclosed as most people likely do and only open it once the charging is complete to get an accurate temperature. 🌡🌡🌡🌡🌡🌡🌡🌡🌡🌡🌡🌡

Ginger On Wheels damn dignity right my friend! Always best to pull your batteries off charge when you go to bed, or atleast have a co2 fire extinguisher and a few bags of sand, with a lot of fire alarms if you don’t, just to be safe, you never know when something could fail and a lot of components built in China tend to have some minor construction flaw or another and will fail unexpectedly. The only time you should leave it plugged in after it’s done charging, is when you want to make sure your cells are getting balanced completely (this is assuming your bms will balance your cells when they are charging, there are so many variables when it comes to bms it’s ridiculous, you’d be surprised how many different bms would be in the wolf’s batteries over the time it’s been available, due to simple supply and demand) Sorry for my long winded comments, I just wanted to support Gingers comment, he (you) did an absolutely ball busting amount of research to learn about lithium cells. (There’s years and years more worth of data to take into consideration but eh) 👌🤗

Ginger knows alot more then me,but I been vaping for 6 years and a little familiar with 18650 batteries,so here's my opinion for now. If your gonna ride your scooter within a couple days of charging theres nothing wrong with 100% charging the problem is charging to 100% and letting it sit there for long periods of time fully charged. They do say if you only charge to 80/90% your battery will last long as far as how many times you can charge them. From what I understand is they break down while in that 100% charged state so as long as there not just sitting at 100% for long periods I DO MYSELF,AND I DO RECOMMEND...... charge 100% and enjoy your scooter!
@GingerOnWheels4 жыл бұрын
I usually do 'deep cycle' charges (1amp) when I'm just letting it charge in my house and I don't have an urgent need to use the scooter. I always charge it up to 100%. I know there is a lot of evidence to suggest that this will decrease overall battery life but I haven't noticed any after near daily charge/discharges for a year. Sometime's I'll even charge it up to 100% and leave it for a couple days on accident, or it'll start snowing and I can't ride... If there is ONE guy on the internet who would've experienced loss in longevity of their battery, I think it'd be Yogisteve from Electric scooter academy on youtube. I'm curious to ask him.
@TheChazas4 жыл бұрын
@@GingerOnWheels Charge cycles are definitely good. Discharing battery till shut off definitely does the most degrade of the battery, a lot more than charging to 100%. It is recommended to not go below 20% or 30% and not go above 80% or 90% which suppose to prolong and give you 2 to 3 times more of charge cycles before battery going bad, but that is the catch, if you charging in that way you get to use basicaly just half of the battery capacity and have to charge a lot more frequently, basically not winning much at all by charging and trying to save the battery. I would really love to see a detailed test, with two same batteries, and see how much miles overall of lifespan you would be able to get with both batteries.

@@TheChazas I've read those 'rules' in lots of places, too. And there are articles out there proving they are true. BUT I've driven my scooter until shutoff and been stranded lots of times. I should definitely do another range test to see if my battery has significantly less capacity.

@@GingerOnWheels How many miles you already did on your Wolf? Chargers aren't measured in amp hours. That's a measure of battery capacity. Chargers are measured in amps. You need to make sure the output voltage of the charger is equal to your battery pack at full charge (both 67volts, full charge on a 60v scooter). Then make sure the output of the charger isn't too much by plugging it in and seeing if your battery gets warm. Or you can contact the manufacturer and ask what a safe charging speed is. Or take the amp hour capacity of your battery pack and divide it by 2, thats roughly how many amps you can charge at MAXIMUM.

DUDE....... I forgot to ask you this so many times.....near the back wheel there is 2 large screws on each side I guess for the rear suspension they are 8mm hex keys 1 of them are in the open and easy to tighten but 1 on each side is behind the tubular frame,have you found a way to tighten that one I cant get to it. THANKS.........AGAIN !!!!!
@GingerOnWheels4 жыл бұрын
If yours is loose, which it shouldn't be .... You need to find the areas where the metal bar is secured to the battery housing and loosen the screws going through the bar. Then slide the whole frame bar back (it'll come out of the two fixtures in front) , then tighten your axel screw, then slide the bar back and retighten with loctite.

What voltage do you recommend recharging at for a 72v battery scooter? On my 60v I never let it go below 53.8v so I’m assuming for 72v I should recharge around the 67.2v mark. Just wondering if u could run scooter lower for more range if desperately needed.

Thanks for this video! I always wonder this type of stuff. My battery on the Lightning+ is also 60v, but its smaller in capacity so I bet its not set up internally the same. I did hear that the two ports on mine all connect to the same stuff inside the battery so it doesnt matter what port I use. I assume that means I can use one 5amp and one stock 1.7amp charger at once.

Hey man great video! Quick question though: I am getting an electric motorcycle from china thats 72v 120ah. Sadly they only provide me with a standard chrger, like the one you would use to plug into your monitor or pc and is rated for 10ah. I found a charger online that states it can do 84v & 20ah and want to use it as I don't perticularly like waiting hours for my bike to charge. Would that work or just cause my bike to explode haha. If you like I can send you the link of the charger I found, and maybe you could even help me find one better suited for me. Thanks and keep it up!!!
@GingerOnWheels3 жыл бұрын
Send me a link to the bike and both chargers. I simply don't believe they exist. 72v 120amp hours is MASSIVE, like 200lbs worth of battery. I don't know much about emotorcycles but that thing sounds big. Second, chargers are rated in amps, not amp hours.... third, there is almost no standard household outlet that would allow a 20 amp charger and not trip the breaker (maybe a garage outlet or gfci?). I've personally never seen an 84v 10amp charger. Just so many questions here....
@LiamDavidsonYT3 жыл бұрын
@@GingerOnWheels Also, the charger that comes with the bike isn't shown anywhere, they just told me it comes with a 10A (my mistake, not ah) fast charger and I was just guessing that it would then be a 84v charger.
