নেত্রকোনা জেলার সর্ব উত্তরে ভারতের মেঘালয়ের গারো পাহাড়ের কোল ঘেসে নিরব দাড়ীয়ে ছোট্ট জনপদ দুর্গাপুর।একপাশে ময়মনসিংহের ধোবাউড়া উপজেলা, অন্য পাশে গারো পাহাড় আর উপত্যকা দিয়ে ঘেরা ভারতের মেঘালয়, পুর্বে নেত্রকোনা জেলার কলমাকান্দা উপজেলা। আর দক্ষিণেপুর্বধলা উপজেলা।
ইতিহাসঃ
১২৮০ খ্রীষ্টাব্দে মেঘালয়ের পূর্ব অংশে সু-সঙ্গ নামে এক পরগনার গোড়াপত্তন হয়। অভিযাত্রী মার্কোপোলো তাঁর অভিযানের এক পর্যায়ে যখন তাঁতার সাম্রাজ্যের সম্রাট কুবলাই খাঁর দরবারে তখনই আরেক অভিযাত্রী সোমেশ্বর পাঠক মতান্তরে সোমনাথ পাঠক ভারতের কান্যকুব্জ থেকে ১২৮০ খৃষ্টাব্দ (৬৮৬ বঙ্গাব্দ মাঘ মাস) পূর্ব ময়মনসিংহের উত্তরভাগ ‍‍'পাহাড় মুল্লুকে' প্রচুর সঙ্গীসাথী সহ কামরূপ ভ্রমণের লক্ষ্যে বর্তমান দশভূজা বাড়ির প্রাঙ্গনে অশোক বৃক্ষের নিচে বিশ্রামের জন্য যাত্রাবিরতি করেন। অত্র 'পাহাড় মুল্লুক' ছিল 'বৈশ্য গারো' নামের প্রবল পরাক্রমশালী এবং অত্যাচারী এক গারো রাজার অধীন। সোমেশ্বর পাঠক তাকে যুদ্ধে পরাস্ত করে সু-সঙ্গ অর্থাৎ ভাল সঙ্গ নামে এক সামন্ততান্ত্রিক রাজ্য প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন। এই সোমেশ্বর পাঠকই সুসঙ্গ রাজবংশের আদি পুরুষ।

Susang Durgapur situated in one of the districts of Bangladesh called Netrakona is 182 km from Dhaka. It is a genuine natural splendour of woodland river & hills where the Garos and other tribals reside. One can easily take pleasure in boating in the river, seeing the green bushes around, climbing hills etc. Wild elephants at times comes from the jungle. Nonetheless, especially during winter, Durgapur is crowded with many tourists.
Nature purifies our soul through releasing stress. It is said that we should visit a new place every year. However, it may not be possible to plan a luxury tour when you work for six days a week. If you want to experience the divine beauty of pinkish hills, blue water ponds and a sinuous river.This heavenly place is located in the North region of Bangladesh. Falling near the border area of India, Durgapur holds the reminiscent touch of Meghalaya hills. Though not promoted like other tourist spots of Bangladesh, Durgapur is one of the most beautiful places in Bangladesh
আপনারা যারা চীনামাটির পাহাড়, গারো পাহাড়, নীল পানির লেক বা সোমেশ্বরী নদী বলতে বিরিশিরি বোঝেন তাদের উদ্দেশ্যে বলছি, বিরিশিরি দুর্গাপুর উপজেলার বাসস্ট্যান্ড এবং একটি ইউনিয়ন। চীনামাটির পাহাড়, রানীখং, ভারত-সীমান্ত, সোমেশ্বরী নদীসহ আরও যা দেখবেন সবই দুর্গাপুর উপজেলার অন্তর্গত এবং অন্যান্য ইউনিয়নে।
