you carnet really compare a cured sop with a straight one. The curved one will always sound more saxophone like. either sax taken away and played on its own with a different mouthpiece different acoustic conditions will sound different again

trestresbrel these saxes are no match to the Selmer saxophones and there is a big differwnce in the price. Selmer can't be a comparison

That's not necessarily true. I've owned two modern Selmers - a Series II and a Series III. I now play an Antigua Winds soprano by choice. I've never played a Mauriat but the Yamaha sopranos are as good as most anything available. Price has very little to do with how good a saxophone is. The problem with this video is that one of these is a straight soprano and the other is curved. They will sound very different if the microphone (or cell phone camera) is in the same position for both videos.

I owned a mark six soprano but I really liked the vintage finish Paul muriat.i often have to transpose the English horn an oboe parts in musicals and be very exposed ... intonation is critical.The Muriat was great in it's octave matching.The loud,fast, boisterous, playing of many of these videos does nothing to really test the subtle intonation of the horns.

Hmm, they are all nice, but I have to go with the Yamaha 82ZR. It has a sweeter sound to me and a smoother timbre than the P. Mauriats. There's something vaguely quaky about the P. Maurait sopranos that I find a little annoying...

I preferer yamaha saxophones, the sound of the instrument is more solid and more perfectly, the saxophones maurriat the sound is more off

Bull ! Mauriat is better just because James Carter plays it Uh?? and this guy in the video is endorsed by Mauriat so he will of course say Mauriat is better (if you can uhderstand him) by the way James Carter is not the best player by any means!! Yamaha sounds great! I can see why they call you "sadman" :-)
