Very often? Where? These are highly elegant and sophisticated ancient upper class music. It's not easy to hear them.

+ David Henry : Like I said back in China . Did you ever travel around the Chinese main land ? those melodies are came from their temples , they play it all day long at that place to help them chant the sutra . So I familiar those melodies , just never know what is the name . and this , is just one of them . I know them cause I was born in here . that vertical flute is named 箫 ’xiāo ‘ ,that other one is not a 古筝 Guzheng , it is a 古琴Guqin ,it's much more rarer and ancienter than 古筝 Guzheng .

Doyya Lin I grew up in China. It makes sense that it's was played in Buddhist temple. It's actually a prayer from master Pu'an and that's why it's called "Pu'an zhou". But I really didn't except one can hear it very often from outside. I'm glad you had such a unique experience.

Doyya Lin My uncle is a Buddhist and I almost became one. But temples in my home town use more " liberal " music, i.e. with a lot of digital sound effect. Maybe because we are in different areas. Thanks for sharing.
