After my wife was diagnosed with cancer, she would sing this song to me when she thought I was asleep. Been just over seven years since she passed away. Still hard to listen to this song. But damn it if i don't love it. Today is the 9th anniversary of my wife's passing. Thank all of you kind and loving people for all your well wishing and love for the last year. I love this video. It shows how hard it is to get out of an abusive relationship, even if you're a man and your female partner is the abusive one. I know the video has some comedic direction, but still portraits how damaging the toxic and abusive relationship can be for both parts, the victim and the abuser. At the start they're both looking good and normal, but by the end they're both messy, covered in makeup and the guy has it worse with his bruises and eye damaged. There's no good for none of them! Great video and great message.

People obviously don't get the true message of the song, it's about having abandonment issues. I for example have this problem, so when i think someone is leaving me i try to hurt them. You get into a manipulative relationship this way, a lot of times the person will come back to you once you apologize. It's typical of people have have rough upbringings and were used to people they loved hurting them, so they repeat the same behavior. If you don't get that, be happy that it doesn't make sense to you.

In the music video pink acted crazy and seemed to enjoy what she did but i bet in reality she cried a lot when she wrote this song. I guess the core of the song isn't about an abusive relationship. It's about someone who has defense mechanism to pushed away people they love, act like they don't need them, being mean when actually they don't mean it. It's the opposite, they actually still very much love the person. People with trauma develop those self defense mechanism sometimes. An abuser never actually love you, they seems to love you but they actually doesn't. The music video just focus on the begging, they made it comical and exagerated and yeah if it goes that far it is pretty much an abusive relationship. In 2020 this music video won't happen. We have more sensitivity towards abusive relationship.
