It's something most musicians do subconsciously as their own way of focusing and keeping time. I've seen keyboardists look like they're possessed because they're focusing on the song they lose track of what they look like performing.

Working for a live event arena I've seen women acting like spoiled entitled children. I remember one incident where these women were picking a fight with teenagers who were more adult than the adults. Hopefully they woke up for work the next day and realized what jerks they were.
