When I was with my ex and was in abusive relationship, I used this song as a way to cope with myself. I thought true love must be painful so I just kept on going. Now I'm dating my best friend and I suddenly stumbled upon this song again. Then I realize that she's not talking about holding onto an abusive relationship. She's talking about sometimes you can get angry, you can get annoyed, you can get upset at your partner but you don't keep that negative feeling stays bcs you know it's temporary. And visa versa. In fact, you don't even have to hide that feelings bcs you trust your partner and your partner trust you. You're not scared to be honest to them, and you can finally realize it's normal to stay true to your feelings. It's about understanding and tolerating each other. This song means so much to me. I really didn't regret breaking up with my ex. Edit : we're still going strong, so far the happiest and the longest relationship I've ever been, both of our family and friends have approved us. This song isn't about falling in love w/ an asshole, what she means by "asshole" is that he can push her buttons which wouldn't be possible if she didn't care about him. "no one else can break my heart like you" Only someone you really care about can disappoint or break your heart. If you don't love/care about someone they can't really hurt your feelings. SO the song to me is basically about you have the ability to hurt me and disappoint me which means I must really love you otherwise it wouldn't matter. It's not saying he's really an asshole or that he does constantly hurt her feelings, (I tried to explain it, hope you understand)

EXACTLY. My wife would sing along to this every time it came on the radio in the car, we were in love but I know I could drive her crazy, she was my soulmate and I was hers, didn't mean I wasn't an asshole sometimes or like the part about Romance. This song is really about TRUE love, not some relationship you had when you were a teen that lasted 3 months, it is about that person who you will be with until your or their dying die, no matter how mad they make you, no matter how much they neglect romance, because at the end of the day you know they love you with every part of their being and the same applies to you for them.

I love P!nk. Her music got me through so much, including the self-harm phase and abusive relationships I've had. I'm now in the happiest, most functional relationship I've ever been in, with a man I love. He's an asshole, and I love him. He drives me crazy, in the best way. Jenna Saxon This video for True Love was released in June 2013, the song was played on radio stations throughout the US summer, so it hasn't been THAT long, only 2 years. She also released a record with Dallas Green called roseave. in late 2014, but it didn't really get much promotion because its sound it's more like folk and acoustic, not really made for pop radio. Anyway, I hope she puts out more music soon and radios support it.
