Good video, we usually go down to Southampton on the coach via cruise direct as it's 300 miles for us. I like the way they have things organised at Southampton, better than any airport. Keep on cruising. Regards. Elizabeth and David James-Taylor.

Wow, that's a long Journey! The whole process of dropping the car off to boarding is extremely well organised and we are usually on board within 20 minutes of arriving. We've definitely caught the cruising bug!

Thanks Christine. That's why we put this together - my children have disabilities and we looked for a video like this before we sailed but couldn't find many. Hope you have a great holiday!

what gets me why they have to zig zag a gangway from the terminal to the ship when they could have just done it straight up to the ship with just one turn or none and would have been cheaper. Or are they deliberately done this way to avoid long lines to board?

The ship will be docked all day along the quayside for passenger disembark/ embark purposes. During this period the sea tide will rise and fall by about 11 foot! If one short gangway was used, it would create a steep angle and then create a safety hazard for passengers boarding. (Especially difficult for wheel chair assisted passengers). The 'airbridge' is used to reduce the steep angle a little at every turning, hence making boarding more safe for everyone. I hope that explains.
