there is actually another latvian song simular to this the melody is the same, but the lyrics are different it's about a latvian rifleman going to war and a girl watching his regiment from the window and she's wondering whether she will see him again or not and in the end she is crying at his grave (or covering it with roses, depending on the version of the song) I like this one better, the original one is too sad

@lollygan8193 it's from the Serbian Volunteer Corps, which was like the Serbian version of the SS/Hlinka Guard,etc. Basically an ideological militia
