Television news coverage of the P.S.A. 'Head of the River', of Saturday, April 11th, 1981, broadcast on the evening of the same day, in Perth, Western Australia.
The 'Head of the River', won by Christ Church Grammar School (C.C.G.S.), was held on the Crawley-Narrows course. Stroked by Simon Cox, the victorious Christ Church 1st VIII was coached by Mr. Alf Mountier, a.k.a. 'Monty'.
Located on the Swan River, the Crawley-Narrows course was a particularly scenic one, stretching along the base of Kings Park on the northern side, with the vast expanse of Melville Water on the southern. The final reach was quite majestic, like entering an amphitheatre, being surrounded on the northern side by the old Swan Brewery on the Mounts Bay-road embarkment and Mount Eliza, on the southern side by the spectator fleet and Mill Point, and the Narrows Bridge at the eastern end of the course.
