"Viatore tells the story of a traveller who arrives in this world, grows up, develops and falls in love, finally to reach a certain maturity and abandon the world. The journey seems to take place in the infinity and illuminating intensity of the starry universe.
This composition is in one movement, but is made up of two completely different sound images. The theme of the traveller is subject to growth and development. The theme of infinity, however, does not change and is played in pianissimo.
Viatore is dedicated to Arvo Pärt, who has been my guiding light for many decades."
