P0008 Cadillac fix

Great video, thank you for posting this. My girlfriend's 2008 Cadillac STS with 155,000 miles had the P0008 code pop up last week. I sourced 4 Bosch Camshaft Sensors (OE Manufacturer) from RockAuto and 4 Cadillac VVT Solenoids from my local Cadillac Dealer. These are bolt on parts and made sure to soak them in fresh engine oil before installing so they were properly lubricated. It was ~$300 for everything and I changed my engine oil and filter after installing the new parts. Don't cheap out and get budget parts, you need OE parts to fix the problem. Fortunately, it fixed the P0008 code and the STS is running smoothly without any issues. I have test driven it 100 miles since installing the new parts with no issues and am very pleased with the results.

That's crazy! Never seen a cam sensor (especially aftermarket BWD junk one) actually fix a timing code before!! I have a 2008 SRX 3.6 here now with P0017 and P0008 codes...only 86k miles, oil is clean. Will diagnose the problem tomorrow :)

Love your channel! I have the same exact car 08 srx 3.6 rwd that has had the p0008 since I bought it at around 90k. I just change the oil at 3k but finally going to tackle it by trying this. Currently at 106k

A bit older but for any one coming here, still. I had the same thing p0008/p0017 related, yeah changing the camshaft sensor is the fix for some but more often it's also the vvt solenoids which are the other two sensors next to those camshaft ones. I changed just the camshaft sensors and the symptoms still remained and check engine light came back after a while. What it was for me was the the vvt solenoid (2 on each bank) I ordered them from 1aauto for like 90 for all 4 vvt solenoids. So it's a good idea to just replace all 4 camshaft sensors and 4 vvt solenoid while youve already disassembled it. Some symptoms I've noticed, were mainly loss of power at certain speeds; when you hit the gas, it'll rev up and you expect it to get up and go, but it's more delayed and a gradual pick up of speed. Mainly around the 40mph mark is where I notice it act up a bit, nothing to noticable other than that as it's not actually my finding chain. Mine never even misfired like some have said. I bought my vvt solenoids through 1aauto 90$ for all 4, where are the auto parts stores it's like 40+ per solenoid. The camshaft sensors were thru rockauto but you'll have to put in that it's for a cts 3.6 and not the srx, as that's the only options. I'm sure they also have the vvt solenoids on there too.

Yes this car they took it to a shop and they say timing chain , and car still running , go for it do the sensor, also make sure car has oil , if is low on oil you will get this code as well

@@joshuapriddy2383 Im not gonna tell you what to do, just so you're not upset if it actually is the timing chain lol. How I would rather spend a couple hundred and hopefully it solves the issue. Even if it turns out it's more severe and it is the timing chain, youre only out 200$ as opposed to it just being those sensors and you jumped the gun and spend 1200$+ for the timing chain or even more in an engine (depending on the milage yours has.) Like I mentioned usually it's more of an issue with those vvt solenoid rather than the camshaft sensors; Beings the vvt is dealing with the timing chain. I spent 90 for the vvt solenoid through 1aauto.com and 95$ for the 4 camshaft sensors through rockauto. Or just get the vvt ones first and if it does it solves it than you don't have to do the camshaft sensors but I still would later one.

No codes because of the battery was disconnected or because of the replacement of the sensor

Try to add some starting fluid at the filter , but please don't step on the gas even if the car start don't step on the gas ,, if it start then you need a fuel pump or start with the relay and fuses
