I replaced the gas cap and it fixed the problem for a short while. I then replaced the purge valve and it worked for a while. Finally, I replaced the evap module and the problem is fixed

I’m glad it helped. This year and type of truck has very little guidance on anything. Take care!

This is the most helpful video I have found on this issue. Have the same issue on my 2010 dodge ram and been trying to resolve it

I’m glad it helped out, it’s a stressful process and there wasn’t a lot of info on it previously so I felt compelled to put something together. Have a good one!

So glad I came across your video, great info on a 2010 ram 1500, for the life of me I couldn’t find the location of my purge canister, all other videos were either ‘08 and earlier or ‘12 and later in which all shown different locations than my ‘10, thanks for your video!

I totally agree, this was by far one of the best and most informative videos I've seen. I do have one question. How do you find the drive cycle for your specific vehicle vehicle
@RandomReplica
@RandomReplica Жыл бұрын
If you google the year, make and model for your specific year and type drive cycle, it gives you the specific one for your vehicle typically. Some dealerships know your vehicles drive cycle as well.

This is one of two videos that really help me a lot, so Thank You Sir. I got 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 V-6, got the P0456 Code, saw some videos on KZbin, but only this video is closest to the year of my truck. What I have notice w/the videos is, when the Evac Pump is changed out first, the engine light comes back on after a day or two, and then they have to change out the Evac Solenoid. Since most of us don't have a smoke machine, I just took a chance in changing the Evac Solenoid, first by taking out the battery. Was it necessary? For me it was, it gave me more room to access the Solenoid Bracket. I just un-screwed the bracket first, and then I took off the 2 small hoses from the Solenoid , and then I install the New Evac Solenoid and then put the battery back in. I have been driving the truck now for 3 days, and so far so good no engine light on the dashboard. Should the engine light come back on, then I will change the Evac Pump. Prior to all this, I changed out the gas cap, but to no avail. Good Day to all, take your time, and next time I work on my truck, I will turn off my cell phone, took longer to get off the cell phone than to Change Solenoids. Thank You.

One of the best informative videos about this error code. Well done sir. I have one question, how much would the electrical fix cost? I am having the same issue and wants to see how to proceed with this issue. Thank you @RandomReplica

It took a very good mechanic in San Pedro, CA to find the answer for me. I went to at least 5 mechanics including the work I did myself. They tested one of the wires that triggers the code and realized it needed to be replaced. The mechanic heard the story of all the trouble and things I had done and actually didn’t charge me a thing. He felt bad for all the troubleshooting and stress I had gone through. If I had to guess $150-$300. Labor is expensive these days. Wire I’m sure is cheap but finding the right one can be difficult if you don’t know what you’re looking for.

Recommend ONLY OEM gas cap and components. Rock Auto is good, it beware of Amazon and/or e-bay counterfeits.

please indicate where exactly was the loose electrical wiring? Does it have name? What was the cost of that piece? Thanks, great video.

I don’t recall. If I knew I would certainly post it, but one of the mechanics ran tests on the electrical system that effects the evap system and were able to reverse diagnose that way. Sorry this doesn’t help, I know it’s frustrating, I had to deal with it for a while. Dodge makes it hard to fix their issues.

Hey bro did you figure out the problem because I’ve been replacing all sorts of shit on mine and I still cannot figure out what is up the light keeps popping on
@RandomReplica

That’s the problem with this issue is it’s very time consuming and frustrating. I spent months troubleshooting and watching countless videos. The video I made was to attempt the common, cheaper solutions. I was unfortunate and didn’t have a simple issue. Mine required the 8th mechanic I dropped it off at to finally find some resistance on an electrical component that was triggering the sensor. You may have that same issue or you may just need to go through your vehicles drive cycle to clear the code. You may have already fixed the problem and it has registered on all your sensors.
