Had a look at the Mayortech one but the manual sucks. You have to bridge 2 points and no explanation why and made me uncomfortable to buy it. This one is straight forward and the manual is way better as well. And the explanation here made it even easier. Guess I'm buying this model. @Jean B, Dankie vir die video!

Hello I have a Major Tech MTD8 timer. It has the two connection points on the top for Live and Neutral but there are three connection points at the bottom. How do I install it? It also says the timer must be protected by a 20Amp DIN mount MCB. Now what is this?

Best to use a qualified electrician one that understands the torque required to tighten contacts for such a high powered input and output. Secondly use the timer to engage a high powered contactor . Look at how a 3.5kw AC3 220V Contactor is built compared to a so called geyser timer. These timers dont last because their contacts are not designed for high power high arcing switching. Rather use the timer to switch a contactor to switch your geyser!

IYou are correct,i use a timer to control a contactor for my geyser,even though these timers are rated at 16A they still have a relatively short life span.

@steamcountry9523

Temperature is what you want it to be,however a rcommended temperature is 65deg.C above that the water will be scalding hot,geyser thermostats have a maximium setting which is around 65 and not much higher,the setting dial will show a max setting mechanically locked,hope this helps.

Hi good video but there are confusing , installed two today I sickled with them as the auto ON and Auto OFF is very confusing , seems to me that when you set the timer and you standing there and it’s before the time it’s needs to go on then you need to put it in auto OFF , or if you standing there and it’s at the time is supposed to be on then you set it at Auto ON , this is what seems to happen

Hi, Great vid. Two questions. 1- do these timers have user replaceable batteries? My one time looses all settings and time during power cuts. During loadshedding this wasn’t nice at all. And 2 - why would a timer become unresponsive. My other timer doesn’t respond to any inputs. So I can’t change the time or programs. Also some of the led segments no longer show. Luckily this one still maintains settings after power cuts.

Can the timer handle 2 x Geysers? Will the connection be the same?

Just make sure all power is off, the correct size wire is used and all your connections are tight. Those are the important points. I will be adding some videos soon. Have been quite for a while. I also want to do some fun projects, if time allows!

Hi Max South African law,yes qualified or supervised by a qualified electrician. If you do decide to do it on your own then let a qualified person have a look and confirm that all is fine. I would guess that 50% + of installations in SA are not done or even inspected by a qualified person though...

With this timer, only one. You will be able to put a contactor in and let the timer switch on the contactor which then switches on multiple geysers. But it wil probably be cheaper to just put in two timers.

Groete
