Jesus didn't reject the charge against him (Being Equal with God). What he did was reference Psalm 82 to de-escalate the angry people by pointing out that they are sons of the most high as well. However, if you read Psalm 82 you will read that those sons of the most high who are gods (earthly leaders or judges who are given authority from God) eventually will die like men. The chapter ends with "Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!" Who inherits the nations and has everlasting dominion in the old testament and new? Jesus Christ who died like a man for the sins of many and rose from the dead. If Jesus claimed to raise himself from the dead and actually did it, then Jesus' resurrection is a clear vindication from God that Jesus is who he says he is.

Also wanted to correct Hijab on his misunderstanding of Jesus purpose. It was not to declare that he is God. However, it was ultimately to give his life as a Ransome for many by being put to death as if he was guilty. Jesus did not have to claim that he was God, it was already shown by his actions like, walking on water, healing the sick, forgiving sins, etc. The author already new why they accused him of blasphemy. it was clear that calling God his father as if God has a son was making himself God. How so you might say? God is the independent, eternal, necessary being in which nothing can be added to or taken from. If Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, then he is claiming to be God.

It clarifies that God does not have sons specifically due to Christian and Catholic ideologies. ALL throughout the Quran you find verses stating that there is no equal to Allah, no thing or person is Allah or can be at the same level and to do so is a major sin causing you to be immediately in Hellfire, no one has the powers of Allah and it is only Allah who bestows and takes. Furthermore, logically speaking....is a son the same as the father? No, of course not. There is no way at ANY TIME are the 2 in ANY shape or form the exam same in intellect and power. Your reasoning is flawed. As a side note: The previous person brought up a good point. Adam was brought to life similar to Jesus....therefore, why is it, according to your ideology, that it is only Jesus who is "The Son of God?" Shouldn't you follow that the two are "Sons of God?"
