You can also view oil temps in the hidden menu, the only downside is that it will replace the digital portion of the dash (that normally shows you outside temperature, time, etc.) with the oil temperature. If you don't know how, hold the button to the bottom left of the dash for 8-10 seconds until a menu comes up. Navigate through the menu by short-pressing the button, select a menu item by long-pressing. Go to Unlock and it will ask for a code, the code is the sum of the last 5 digits of your VIN. Once unlocked, navigate through the next menu to the "Temperature" option, and you'll be able to toggle through all the onboard temp sensors, including oil. The frustrating part is you'll have to do this every time you start the car, it'll reset back to the standard display when the car is turned off, but it's free and arguably just as useful as an external display.

Hi Fritz, when you turn off the car the display is still showing you values? my concern is to know if the device continues consuming battery when the car is off
@FritzRamos2 жыл бұрын
It does not. It'll run only until the residual power is drained

I just purchased a P3 V3 OBD2 gauge because it has the oil temperature gauge and it looks OEM plus

That one does look good and doesn't totally block the vent. I'm sure you will enjoy it

Perfect solution, this really irritates me that there's no water temp gauge for a couple of reasons. I know if this car has an overheating problem you'll get a message on the display, but because my office is right off a very busy highway and so its very tempting to accelerate hard when the car is still cold because there's such busy traffic conditions during commuter hours and when there is a gap people are usually speeding towards stopped traffic. I need a gauge to keep my behavior in check. Thanks Fritz!

You have android head unit right? u can used the apps called torque pro, instead of this product u put.
@FritzRamos4 жыл бұрын
You can, but it can be a hassle to switch screens and if you do it over bluetooth it can act up when using your phone for music. Good point and definitely an option

What I don’t get, is that you look at any other m235i, from any year. It has electronic gas and mpg. But for some fxckin reason yours and mine have this one. DO U KNOW WHY? Just found out I’m mad lmao

Hey @Fritz Ramos , are you still using this gauge? I purchased this gauge and find it flashes on when the car is off. It will say OBD. Does this happen to you? Cheers
@FritzRamos3 жыл бұрын
Still working. I haven't come across that issue. Mine blinks "- - -" for the first few seconds while the car warms up and right when I turn off the car. How long does it last?

@@FritzRamos seems to have sorted it self out. No issues so far and a good alternative to the p3. I have it installed in a m135i, cheers for the video and suggestion.

Hello, quick question, I'm about to buy one of these for my M135i, but before I'd like to know if every time that you turn on the car you need to switch from Voltage until Water temp by pressing the buttons, or if in someway it keeps in memory the last setting used. Thanks
@FritzRamos3 жыл бұрын
Don't worry, it will stay on the last setting you had it on.
