Can you turn it on to review data if the unit is not plugged in to an electrical outlet? Because it has a battery inside, right?

Yes, it saves everything until you reset it :) note: You can see the data much easier when you plug it into a power source again to turn the screen light on. As a long time Kill-a-Watt owner, I can recommend this meter over the Kill-a-Watt. I have two Kll-a-Watts which agree in their readings, but I started becoming suspicious that I couldn't trust the info I was getting. I bought one of these and got readings that were much more believable. I recently bought an Emporia Vue Gen 3 for whole house readings and have tested those Smart Plug readings with this meter and they are within one half percent of agreement. The Kill-a-Watts are going in the trash can where they belong. I hate that I relied on something that apparently was a source of misinformation rather than information.

When we first found this meter, we did not trust it much either. We have relied on our kill-o-watt meter for everything we did.... But after many, many, many, many, many tests and readings with this cheap $12 meter..... Our original kill-o-watt meter is now sitting in a box with dust on it as well :( P.S. Why does the factory want us to reset overload protection to 1800 watts? Also, is Hz for real will it actually change up or down or just stays at 60.

1. I believe because most new homes have 20a circuits rather than the older homes with 15a circuits. *and most people have older homes ;) (hence the 1800 watts reset) 2. The Hz will change from 50hz to 60hz (Tested this with a power station that allows changing the hz) *You do not want to run stuff on 50hz in the USA.

@@MrBritrider Not 100% sure, I only have something to test this at 50hz or 60hz note: I never seen it float from 59 to 60hz or 61hz, so i am going to assume that it only has 50hz & 60hz

I’ve seen YT videos of these cheaper ones catching fire or melting/scorching while plugged in longer term. I’d Spence the extra $20 for s newer model Kill A Watt.

bought 4 of these and they have been running live on this channel for 6-12 months However, had the following problems with the kill o watt meters in the past. 1 x P3 International kill o watt meter ground just break off on us in the past. 1 x P4400 kill o watt meter die in the middle of testing with a internal short and leave a burn mark on the unit. 1 x P4400 kill o watt meter screen stop working after about 6 months. (all bought from the local menards and walmart stores) P.S. We always test everything fully before we leave ANY electronics plugged in for long term, every company seems to get cheapy quality from time to time :( P.P.S. The key is to fully test whatever you buy BEFORE you use it when you are not there ;) P.P.P.S. LOVE THE "PINK FLOYD - DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" PIC !!!!! P.P.P.P.S. AND THE JIMI HENDRIX REFERENCE IN THE NAME !!!!!
