@@direwolf6234 The versions of the P-38 that were available in May of 1942 didn't have the range that later versions had. The B-25 could make the distance with the bomb load, and the early P-38 couldn't.

YEah , but the Me262 used his initial advantage very poorly. If better flown it would have killed a solo p38
