Flying the Aerosoft Airbus A320 out of Bristol (EGGD) in rainy conditions up to Glasgow (EGPF) as the sun begins to set. It's cold and windy on the approach to Glasgow but the lighting looks stunning.

Great Video! If I may offer a bit of advice coming from a real pilot, your rotations seem to be late, its hard to tell from a 2D screen, but once you hit VR you should be lifting the nose wheel off the ground, continue to let the speed build and the airplane will simply fly itself off the ground. In this scenario it seemed to be a short runway making this vital as it looked like you could have clipped the runway lights with your gear! Other than that, it is impressive the amount of time you have put into this, to learn all of the command, and control functions of a complex aircraft such as this!
@henrygeorge6223
@henrygeorge6223 8 жыл бұрын
as said above, rotation timing needs work, other than that it looked marvelous
@HDAviationofficial
@HDAviationofficial 8 жыл бұрын
+sam farley I wouldn't say that, complex aircraft are meant to be flown with a captain and and a first officer so it's easy to miss something when you have lots of other stuff to do and no co-pilot to relieve you of some of your tasks. Pilots are people, and people make mistakes, that is why we have checklists and an additional pilot.
@henrygeorge6223
@henrygeorge6223 8 жыл бұрын
sam farley I was commenting on his ability as a an amateur. At the end of the day unless you're a pilot I don't think anyone is in any position to judge
@HDAviationofficial
@HDAviationofficial 8 жыл бұрын
+sam farley Yes, I agree there were reckless mistakes made, but at the end of the day this is a game, and he doesn't have thousands of hours of multi-crew, complex, multi-turbine time. I wish you luck in your goals to be a RAF pilot, but as said above you can't really judge someone about real flying unless you have been in the left seat yourself, and experienced what it's like to be PIC of an aircraft, and all of the responsibilities that come with it.
@squirrel
@squirrel 8 жыл бұрын
+sam farley Sam, as an experienced aviator you should encourage people, offer help and constructive advice. Imagine if you join the RAF and your instructors simply criticise your mistakes rather than tutoring and guiding you through them. None of us are born with the skills to fly aircraft, we learn them, and the only way to learn anything in life is to make mistakes. I've come a long way in 12 months and perhaps in 12 months more I'll be making fewer mistakes. Peace.

Paul, the UK transition altitude isn't 10000ft. Most UK airports are 6000 with a few exceptions like manchester which is 5000. The aerosoft airbus has the correct transition for departure set on the PERF page of the MCDU, and you can check it by looking at the SID chart.

Hey Paul. Flight idea here. Looked up some information on EasyJet LGW (Britain, London Gatwick) to HER (Crete, Heraklion) 16:45 Departure > 22:45 Arrival = Estimated flight time: 6 hours. I believe as you will departure in the afternoon, and arrive at night, you might just get some amazing content. Hope you have LGW & HER installed, it would be a blast.

Hey Paul, love the flight sim vids! It allows me to experience these kind of high quality sim experiences without the very (I believe) prohibitively expensive amount of content you would need to get before it visually looks as great as this. Also, I didn't notice until I started watching Bob Ross painting videos that you (more or less) do the same sign off as he did. Thanks for introducing me to Bob as well, nothing quite beats the stress relieving qualities his videos have on me after a hard day at work. :)

Little bit of advice coming from an Airbus pilot you don't arm the auto throttle when you push the thrust levers up to clime thrust it comes on automatically then push it up flex or toga and it will stay on till the thrust leavers are back down at idle or you disconnect it

Transition altitude is at 6000 feet for Bristol and you are meant to switch from the local barometric pressure to standard pressure and then at 10,000 you switch lights off. But other than that it was an amazing flight

I would love a tutorial, on what you look at on the PFPX printsheet, and enter in the FMC. I have figured out most of it. But I am trying to write my own kind of checklist, from cold and dark, all the way to landing. So I can actually fly a plane from start to end, without having to Alt-Tab to look for tutorials, or videos to remind me what I need to do. So a full flight from cold and dark. The tutorial part doesnt have to be long. I usually watch a video, and put in the info on the go. So I am prepared when I take on flying and dont end up with an error i realize on takeoff, and have to abort, and look into it again. Other than that, i really love your P3D videos, and happy to see them back on the menu!

Really nice flight that sunset was georgous you´re really getting better and better:D here´s some advice to master the airbus: The company route didn´t completely "work" because usually the runway and the sid is provided by atc therefore it shouldn´t be in the company route. The apu bleed is just needed for engine start as it spins the fan before fuel injection it has nothing todo with power generating (the bleeds also provide air for the airconditioning). Normally a pilot uses the turnoffs during all landings and takeoffs and never switch off your TCAS/transponder as long as you are airborn. If you struggle with the safe flap speeds there is a yellow double line marker on the speedometer that indicates the max speed for the next stage of flaps. I hope I could help a bit and would really enjoy a flight from/to austria;)

1- What was that sound in 13:40? 2- And what does Flex mean? (on takeoff after you put the auto throttle) 3- Does the aircraft change automatically from flex to climb? Or do you have to do it? 4- Did you continue to climb at 6000 feet? 5- What is transition altitude? 6- On 22:43 was that rain? 7- What did you do in 29:44? What was the button that you had before changing it? What was the button that you changed to? And why did you do that? Sorry for so many questions, but I'm really dying to know. Nice video!! Sincerely Mauro

Transition altitude is where you press the barometer and it automatically to "STD - standart - 1013 hPa" and when you are approaching and you are at this altitude, you press it again and it sets to the QNH which you can find on ATIS of your arrival (or departure of course) airport.

As for requests, how about Glasgow to Barra, though you would have to use a turbo prop and the runway at Barra is the beach. This is the only scheduled flight anywhere that is controlled by the tides. You would have to fly over some amazing scenery on the way.
