X-Plane: Includes lots of 3D scenarios and some (commercial) planes P3D: Includes some 3D scenarios and it doesn't include (commercial) planes. If you have a lot of money go for P3D If you don't want to spend that much money, have better graphics and realistic physics, go for XP-11

For Europe I'd say openLc Europe by Orbx for just normal scenery for Europe. For the USA, I'd say some photoreal sceneries should do, many good ones are free as well.

Nacholino // Design for starting and flying add on planes, their is usually a tutorial and manual included with the aircraft. For default planes, the ingame tutorial works well. For downloaded freeware planes, google your plane and your question and there will almost certainly be a forum or tutorial on the aircraft.

P3D or X-Plane 11? And WHY?

no name P3D for add-ons and a more stable overall platform as X-Plane 11 is in beta at the moment, X-Plane 11 looks nicer out of the box than P3D and has some minor pros like actual runway elevation, etc. P3D has loads more add-ons for scenery and aircraft than X-Plane. Flight dynamics are better in P3D in my opinion and sounds are night and day better in P3D. X-Plane will run better as it is 64 bit but P3D should be moving to 64 bit this year so that advantage will be eliminated along with that ever Lockheed Martin decides to add to V4. Comes down to personal preference but I'd choose P3D. (Also have P3D and it is amazing with add-ons)
