He has enough of being selfless that he will absolutely do anything to get what he wants, people often forget he can be incredibly selfish if he wanted to ( which was shown multiple times with his time with akechi and his hesitation to let him go) even it meant consequences that is out of his control which in a sense makes him similar to Akechi. Sacrificing everything to have what you desire
