Great looking plane, always a heart in mouth moment when you spot an issue with the family in the back. One time I could hear a strange noise while over the English Channel, turned out it was my young son snoring into his headset!

Thank you! Yes, even the stuff I know is no big deal gets me a little nervous. Oh man, that makes my palms sweaty just thinking about a weird noise over water like that. Glad it wasn't an issue with the airplane!

Michael Whitfield here, I would like to have the chance to meet you and if at all able take a look at the amazing aircraft. I am also in the central Texas area. I have my Mooney M20K up in Georgetown. I have been thinking seriously about selling it and upgrading to the Malibu/Mirage and the sweet pressurized comfort that allows. I appreciate your videos and glad to have found you!

Is the malibu too heavy to flare with one hand? Noticed you used both hands and didn’t have your hand on the throttle in case of a go-around.

No, this is just poor technique on my part. Thanks for the note!

Nice video. I love that plane. Piper always good to fly. I can see the front landing gear indicator is still on, after 2nd take off is ok. Some problem with the sensor?

Great question! I did a recent video on this. It turned out to be an issue with the hydraulic fluid level. It's fixed now, fortunately.
@almarasco71012 жыл бұрын
Keep an eye on the fluid at least once ever 4 flights mine leaked out found out the seals were bad $8900.00 later all good now.

I love the video… I was wondering if you’ve encountered much icing in the Malibu yet? If so, how does it handle?
@TaftLove2 жыл бұрын
Thanks William! I have encountered icing a couple of times, but nothing particularly frightening. The boots knocked it off no problem. A recent video has icing, but it was light enough that it's not easy to see on the camera.

Im not in no way criticizing on how you do things...is there a reason why you have both hands on the yoke on approach to land? I was always talk to have one hand on the throttle anf the other hand on the yoke in case you free fall and have to add power or take away power. Seems like it would be more of a controlled landing with one hand on the trottle. Thanks

Nice plane and video...you forgot to set mixture full rich for landing 6:58
@TaftLove2 жыл бұрын
You’re the second person who called this out. My annual trainer (one of the PA-46 experts) says to keep the mixture out and practice an “open hand” throttle, prop, and mixture push on a go around.

Pretty sure there is no gravity feeding of fuel in a PA-46 re at 2:42.
@TaftLove2 жыл бұрын
I wasn’t 100% sure but just took a look in the POH. From Section 6: “Each tank gravity feeds fuel through finger screens into three lines leading to collector/sump tanks located at the root of each wing, just aft of the main spar.” I believe the fuel pumps increase pressure to supplement gravity feeding.
@podtri4192 жыл бұрын
@@TaftLove Those collector tanks are always full if there is fuel in the main tanks. If there were no fuel pumps, there would be no way to get fuel to the engine from the collector/sump tanks. Fuel cannot flow uphill from the collector tank via gravity, because the tank is below the engine. The fuel pump is not supplementing gravity feed because once in collector tank the fuel settles as it is below the engine. The way fuel gets from collector tank to engine is because of positive pressure provided by fuel pumps. An engine gravity-feed system is the Cessna high wings, such as 172, where an engine-driven or electric fuel pump is not necessary to start or keep engine running, i.e., the fuel tanks are above the engine fuel intake.

I noticed you never put in the mixture on landed any reason why you didn’t ?
@TaftLove2 жыл бұрын
Good question! Because the engine is turbocharged, you don't need to adjust the mixture as you descend. The only time I would need to add the mixture back in is if I did a go-around. In that case, I would push the throttle, mixture, and prop forward at the same time.
@almarasco71012 жыл бұрын
Correct when you were landing minute was not in. Only reason why a brought it up is once when I landed the Mixture was lean on my PA 46 half way dork the runway the engine quit. Not trying to criticize you. If your in Texas I’m sure you were probably trained by Joe Casey great guy and instructor

I own the same plane. You don't need touch the mixture for landing and for a go around you can easily bump the throttle to 30" and have plenty of power to start missed approach. Just like he says if you need it all forward take one had and push all the levers at the same time. Great video!

So I'm a novice when it comes to this stuff. Do you mean the level swings between ambient noise when you don't hear the intercom and when we're talking, or do you mean swings in volume during a conversation?
