My family makes it with actual sweet corn. It was a tradition to make a big batch during the summer growing season. It fried up gold n brown and is salted before eating. Great snack! Snyder County Pennsylvania

My Grandmother and Mother made mush often. We would have it the first day when it was creamy with milk and sugar. The nest day, after it set, we would have it fried with butter and fake maple syrup. They never added flour. It was a good way to feed a lot of hungry children. Thanks again for bringing back another wonderful food memory.

My mom made yellow cornmeal mush but never with flour. We ate it with milk and sugar. Any leftover was put in a bread pan and chilled. The next day it was cut and fried till krispy. Eaten with syrup. Oh so good. The corn meal would set up without the addition of flour. I am from Western PA.

Now a days it has gone frou frou and is called Polenta. Took awhile to figure out what the cooking shows were talking about. Finally got to watch them make it. My goodness just good old fashioned corn meal mush. We had a big laugh after that.

Ahhh.. yess..🌽. cormeal... when we ran out of farina, cream of wheat, cream of rice...then came cormeal... bread ,muffins, mush with butter , cinnamon and sugar pinch of salt..loaf mush fried in bacon fat and drizzle in butter and syrup/maple syrup (if we were lucky)..remember those days and nights..sometimes my mother would make corn fritters with flour and cornmeal can cream corn combined..the things you can create when your hungry and have hungry men in the house and kids...It was all good!! And yes pulled us thru...till this day we have corn bread.. a must at Thanksgiving.😊🌽

I was fed this a lot as a child. I love it, particularly in winter here in Iowa. You may have heard we had a derecho last week. Many crops were lost, so I feel the coming winter will be rough.
