Ranjit Singh was the founder and first maharaja of the Sikh Empire, in the northwest Indian subcontinent, ruling from 1801 until his death in 1839. Ranjit Singh survived smallpox in infancy but lost sight in his left eye. He fought his first battle alongside his father at age 10.
ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਉੱਤਰ-ਪੱਛਮੀ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਉਪ-ਮਹਾਂਦੀਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸਨੇ 1801 ਤੋਂ 1839 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੌਤ ਤੱਕ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ। ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਚਪਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੇਚਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ ਪਰ ਉਸਦੀ ਖੱਬੀ ਅੱਖ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਗੁਆ ਬੈਠੀ। ਉਸਨੇ 10 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਲੜੀ ਸੀ।
