Join me on a Paamiut Greenland Walking Tour and highlights to see what it's like to live in southern Greenland. I take you to the Lookout Tower of this picturesque town, the Salvation Church, Paamiut Museum, park, Tourist Information Center and a Turf House. #cruise #greenland
Paamiut is located on the southwestern coast of Greenland on the Labrador Sea. Nestled in the Kuannersoog estuary of the Kvanefjorden, Paamiut is surrounded by natural beauty. It’s formerly known as Frederikshap, named after King Frederik VI. The population is about 1,300 and the Gulf Stream keeps the town ice free year round.
Since 1500 BC the native Kalaallisut people resided here. Later, the Norse settlers moved to Paamiut. It gained prosperity on the abundance of fur and whale products. Paamiut is home to Greenland’s largest white-tail eagle population. It’s also known for their soapstone artists. Soapstone is a softer stone with more talc making it easier for sculpting. Café Tamu is the only restaurant there and it is to the right of the Salvation Church.

Oh, there are ALSO TONS of mosquitos in Nanortalik!😂 They are just more abundant some days, more than others.
