I wonder when Namco is ever going to reuse Orson in his PMW3 design (likely in Pac-Man World 3 Re-Pac which might as well come in 2026 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the 25th Anniversary… 20 + 25 = 45. So the Re-Pac sequels of the mid/2020s might as well be a 45th anniversary celebration of the Pac-Man franchise which has the animation style of PMW2 for home consoles alongside a future Pac-Man movie I’d love to make, Pac-Man and the University of Pac-Land)

i had always loved pac-man world and that pac-man is my all time favorite video game character in the world that i grew up with him, but i was dissapointed that toc-man was never real, since he could have been the perfect arch-enemy for pac-man, like mario has bowser. i also never knew that the game had blooper scenes. anyway, i'm glad that they're finally making a remake of that ps1 classic for the switch that i hope it will be great, but i just don't like it that ms. pac-man and baby pac-man will be replaced.

I've got the remake early (due to royal mail deadline upon release date) and I just beat the pirate and ruins area. Which means for Anubis, the easy mode creates blue block-like ground each phase. Everything else, however... Best use the easy mode's version of the hover jump (infinite but slow hovering) just remember, you can't jump over the tornadoes. Just so you all understand what Anubis Rex has in store for you.

Disappointed that the remake cheaped out and just used what looks like the in-game engine for the cutscenes with no proper voice acting. Still solid gameplay-wise, but there was a charm to the original cutscenes' animation style.

Looking back, I'm confused on Orson's motivation. He says "Nothing Loves a Ghost" but like what was he gonna gain by disguising as/replacing Pac-Man (You know, the Ghosts/Monsters' MAIN enemy!) while also still being on Ghost Island? Also, WHY are the Ghosts/Monsters suddenly terrified of Toc-Man during cutscene before the Toc-Man Battle, they CLEARLY weren't before! Look, I know criticizing a game with this of a simple plot seems redundant, but like those two aspects of the story just REALLY bothered me while rewatching these cutscenes. Plus, simple plot or not; I can only suspend my suspension of disbelief so far for writing that clearly wasn't fully thought through. That being said, I'll end this comment on a positive note by saying the bloopers are genuinely kinda funny & the prerendered cutscenes look pretty good for a semi-late PS1 game.

There's an old interview with the game designer Scott Rogers, where he explains Orson's backstory, I think you'll find it interesting. I'll copy paste that part below: "In the first pass of the script, there were interviews with classic Namco characters like Dig Dug and Valkerie and they would fill us in about Pac-man and his 20 year history. In the background of all of these stories, you would learn the story of Orson the little ghost. He and Pac-Man grew up together and as Pac-man got more famous, Orson would try to copy all his success, like being in a video game, cartoon series, breakfast cereal, etc. except they were all horrible failures. Orson got more and more jealous of Pac-Man. Realizing that he would never make it in the entertainment industry, he turned to manufacturing Pac-dots and made a fortune. He built this castle on Ghost Island and grew more and more obsessed with Pac-Man and paranoid, kind of like Howard Hughes did when he got old and twisted. At one point we even had Orson enormously fat and dressing up like Pac-Man and marrying an inflatable Ms. Pac-Man! Orson thought since everyone loved Pac-Man, then he would BECOME Pac-Man. Orson's big plan was to capture and replace Pac-Man and have a big "coming out" party so everyone would love him instead. The idea of Orson dressing up as Pac-man changed to Orson in a mechanical suit and that became Toc-Man. (which was my nod to Namcot, Namco's original name) I think I really just liked the visual of a little ghost in this big mechanical suit."
