Great observation! BGA's is a different story. See paceworldwide site. Large BGAs systems are expensive. There are less expensive hot jet systems are ok but can re-flow ajacent solder joints during your operation. If you use this method make sure to flux a wide area beyond the component your'er working on. Thank You Marc

This is a very useful must-see video and I highly recommend it. So much has changed since I built my first homebrew radio when I was 12 years old back in the '50s, but one thing hasn't changed and that is the absolute need for quality soldering practices. I am now 68 years old and if my hands weren't so shaky and my eyesight so bad I would love to build projects involving SMD technology, but I'll settle for rebuilding some of the projects of my youth using vacuum tubes. Keep up the good work.

Excellent work. One recommendation though: When doing manual placement (with tweezers) with SMT resistors you might want to select resistors that do not have the thick film going out to the edges. I know the Panasonic resistors have a only ceramic on the edges so the thick film cannot get damaged by the tweezers. Thick film is especially easily damaged when hot.

Marc Siegel,Sir you are a expert on that field excellent work,i have a question -what temperature are you using for the hot air station to install components like that? and thanks for share very excellent.
@MrMarcSiegel8 жыл бұрын
+ricardo77773 Thanks for your note Ricardo. When using the Hot air Jet, I first turn the heater temp to 900F. I then adjust the air speed so I can produce a burn line on a Kim wipe, without catching the wipe on fire. Paper starts to burn at 451F( a favorite movie, book by Ray Bradbary). So your air temp is close to 449F. You can also control temp with distance to the work area. But be careful your not reflowing adjacent joints. Heat protective tape my be needed to isolate the joints needing reflow. Always experiment on a junk board prior to the task to find the correct variables. Pre-heat the board to about 150F to start so your working at the lowest possible temp to do the task. This technique reduces chances of blistering of FR4-5 substrates. If you need more info contact an expert at PaceWorldWide for more info in the process section. Stay well. Best Marc
