He is such a cool character that grow up awesome
@iycrm45834 жыл бұрын
Spitting is absolutely disgusting and disrespectful, but Pacey did it as self-defense of his character. The teacher shouldn't use words if he was not going to put them into action and Pacey taught him that lesson. And also too, the teacher is not very bright for insulting his students as well as calling them a failure. You have a whole classroom who will be willing to rat you out and teachers can be well replaced for doing so. I can see why all these years that they would make us do essays or debates on why there should be cameras in classrooms.
@selinaogorman83802 жыл бұрын

I'm sorry for your experience in the education system. The system was rather horrible in the 90's. But if it helps, I know what it's like to have teachers who don't understand you to respond in such an inappropriate manner just because you're "different" than the other children. I spent all of my years in school trying to understand why the "adults" (never had a problem with my peers because I grew up with many of them so they knew me) treated me a certain way even though I wasn't a kid who caused trouble and was an A+/B+ student. Turned out, it was because I had Asperger's Syndrome and they didn't understand it. I know it doesn't excuse their behavior, but as a grown-up, I got it because often people fear what they don't know how to handle. It just gave me a better idea of what they were facing. Sorry for the long story, by the way. But I understand.

My 5th grade teacher used to make a child stand up in front of the whole classroom whenever he/she/me would do something she thought was inappropriate, then she would sing a made up rhyme that ended with "(the child's name) is a..." And the rest of the children completed her with "PSYCHO!" And they all pointed at that humiliated, often crying child and laughed WITH the teacher. If I was tall enough to reach her face at the time I wouldn't have been spitting. I cry every single time I watch this moment because it feels like Pacey is the only one brave enough to finally speak for me. To put a stop to the abuse in my name and in Jack's name and most importantly, in HIS NAME. He's the voice of everyone who's ever been tortured for being different. And that's an honour that superhero Dawson could live a thousand lifetimes and still never earn. I have no doubt in my mind that Pacey was thinking of his dad in a sense, in that moment. He's scared of his dad but I have to say that everytime he gets violent, physically or verbally, the only thing I can think of is that he's learned from the "best". He's been physically and emotionally abused at home his whole life and he CHOSE to fight back by being people's guardian angel rather than being their worst nightmare. They say courage is grace under pressure, and I think Pacey is the living embodiment of that definition. An extraordinary actor and a beautiful beautiful beautiful, beautiful boy. What a gift...

The teacher could have and should seen and leveraged Pacey’s passion to inspire the class. Instead, he took the title of teacher instead of the role of teacher. In 2021, Pacey would be facing felony charges of battery upon a public employee, which in the state of Massachusetts includes up to 2½ years in a house of correction and a fine of between $500 and $5,000. The teacher would've lost his job due to cancel culture after a leaked KZbin video of him surfaced and made the mainstream news. Jack would get invited to Ellen, Oprah and the View to give a speech on how "it gets better" and you should stand up to homophobia.

Maybe, maybe not. Who cares? The discussion is about the actions taken by each character in this scene. That's it. What Pacey did was right and decent, and shows like this, regardless of how cheesy they were were important because they empowered kids who had no voice at a time when jackwits like this "educator" were accepted and given free passes, and even encouraged. These shows encouraged these kids to be who they were, when often their own communities were telling them otherwise. You're worried about cancel culture? Boo hoo, snowflake. If "cancel culture" is the price we have to pay for eliminating a culture that is toxic and leads kids to being marginalized to the point that they harm or kill themselves, then right on. I have lost dear friends to suicide because of garbage like what this guy is doing. Today, kids like Jack have a voice. So let them go on Ellen or Oprah. Jealous? You may call these folks whiny, I call them alive.
