Spot on with the videography editing, Rob! My daughter and I look forward to every episode.

Wow, you are the first hikers I’ve seen - not that every one of them is vlogging - actually do a road walk rather than hitch a ride around the (Lionshead) fire closure near Bend. I am IMPRESSED.

I get that the road walk isn't ideal but I'm with you on this one. Continuous miles from Mexico to Canada. I also get people skipping and still being able to say that they walked the PCT, or all that is open. But yeah, I'm with you on this one. One continuous path. I think if you have walked this far it is a detour out of necessity that needed doing. At the end of this Thru-Hike you can put your hand on your heart and say that you hiked your hike and you did it all the way. Kudos. I know it's a memory now but we are still living this in the present with you. Not long for us to go but a couple of months back for you. Really enjoying the Hike, will be sad that it's over but all good things must come to an end.

Another great video, guys! It’s interesting to see the difference a day or two can make on the views and conditions as compared to when I went through the same areas this year on my thru hike. I had a blast sharing my journey here on KZbin and I can tell you are, too! Thanks for sharing with us!

Enjoying your hike pictures of Oregon. Having spent many weeks horse camping along the PCT, your photos bring back lots of memories of fun times. I had visited with PCT hikers at the horse camp near Cresent Lake on many occasions. Your videos never cease to amaze me. Enjoying your adventure. Can’t wait for the next video. FYI: your videos are by far the best I’ve seen and I’ve watched many different hikers. You focus on beautiful scenery not where the next motel is or food. Awesome! Jenny

Hi Jenny, as Rob and Cassie near completion I am trying to find some alternate channels to watch their Hike this year. Any recommendations at all? I know that this channel will be impossible to beat but any suggestions welcome. Thank you in advance. Chris Stafford, England, UK 🇬🇧 🙂😎

I've watched HRC on the PCT. They were great with Mum, Chief and then Dipper who came along the last third. Mum is a Teacher, Chief a High School Senior and Dipper a Teaching Assistant. Their channel started as Educational for the School but turned into a great channel for all. You may have seen them, if so sorry for telling you something you already know. Can't remember Mum's Trail Name.

I know that road walk wasn’t the greatest compared to being on trail. But if you have to walk on a road, at least it’s a pretty one. Good way to compare it to the Camino in Europe. Thanks for posting

My wife and I are really enjoying your journey. Great job on editing this video. Last year we camped on the border of the Mt. Hood and Willamette National forests and we could see Mt. Jefferson from our camp spot, so that was neat to see, you are getting close to our neck of the woods!

Man brutal…I don’t know if I’d road walk that distance. You two have perseverance.

With changing climate and increasing fire closures I think it's only a matter of time before the PCTA switches to a corridor definition of the PCT just like the Continental Divide Trail. The agencies may even want to plan lower alternate trails for that eventuality.

Great point, Steve. I thought the same thing during my thru hike this year after going through so many burn/damaged areas from current and previous years…..knowing there were likely safer, more scenic, or just as beautiful options nearby.
@Simon-unterwegs3 жыл бұрын
That's what worries me. I want to hike the PCT but have to wait till my little one is older. That means at least waiting ten to fifteen years. With climate change in mind the trail will have changed a lot till then.

Love your attitude on the road walk. I’ve had to do a few (much shorter ones) on my section hike of the PCT. I’ve always looked to find the best out of them and to enjoy the sights the best I can. Nice work!

I’m intrigued by your napping breaks. Something I haven’t embraced but may want to. About how long (avg) is each siesta ?
@HeadingSomewhere2 жыл бұрын
We didn’t do it very often, but when we did it was usually 30 min or so. In Nor Cal when the heat was horrific we siesta’d for a few hours in the heat of the day. Oakley

Have you completed the full year grid on the Presidentials? How many have you done? I follow Kyle Hates Hiking (which of course he doesn't) and he talks a lot about them.

What happened to that blonde woman from earlier episodes? Must've missed the episode where they abandoned her.

“Abandoned”? If you are talking about Siren, in Episode 8 around 4min30 she heads off for a different resupply strategy that creates about a week separation.

I would not have discounted you any in your efforts if you had accepted a ride to the trailhead, rather than doing the roadwak, so long as the trailhead that you are going to is in fact the nearest point in which you can safely rejoin the trail and continue your journey to Canada. If I had been doing this hike IRL this year, there was a stretch in Cali that I would have needed to skip too, and I would have taken a taxi over 100 miles, even not rejoining at the nearest point on the trail, but considerably further up, as the smoke became so thick in a couple places that I would not have considered the trail safe, even though parts of the trail were in fact open. You guys got through this stretch BEFORE the fire closure and the smoke, and you even make a comment regarding this in one of your later videos that you feel sorry for all the people that had to miss the half way mark (which would have included myself if I had done the hike this year). Kudos to you two for persevering, and I look forward to watching the rest of this series.
