On Day 79 video, Rach said something that really resonated with me. She said something about being grateful in having the health to experience this adventure. That is one thing many take for granted when you're of the age you both are at. Day 79. 1979 is the age when my wife and I got married! It seems like it was just yesterday when we were a couple of young pups, and now the time has passed all too quickly. We had talked, dreamed, and planned to do the PCT, but life got in the way. We are now living vicariously through you and your journey. Your're experiencing great future memories. Thank you. It is somewhat embarrassing for us to live so close to it and yet not have experienced it. We live in the State of Jefferson which the PCT passes through. (We live in Gasquet, CA and are adjacent to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Coastal Redwoods-Tallest Trees on Earth) . I've always wanted to do the section from Seiad, CA to Ashland, OR because of its sentimental significance to me. You both have inspired me. Since my commitments are fewer and fewer every year it is time to follow through on previous dreams. First that local section, then the mini Yellowstone of Lassen National Park (You may wear out the word, Wow!!, then the sectional through Crater Lake National Park. Thank you. Carpe diem.

My husband and I were also married in 1979 and are vicariously living the trail with Rach and Dan. We need to get thru a few short term health issues and feel the same way, start with a few short hikes, most important getting out there together.

What a beautiful video-I’m glad that you got to have an easier hike filled with great smells and sights. I could totally feel your wildflower euphoria, it is amazing to be there. Guess the flowers were the “trail magic” for this day, and you drank it all in! Safe travels!

Another gorgeous day in the Sierras. The weather is awesome the last few days! You are blessed. Thx for sharing this experience. This campsite is incredible. The views... Btw. your front-facing camera is mirror-inverted. I noticed it when I tried to read the time on the InReach ;-) Happy hiking

It sounds like you are enjoying the satisfaction that comes from pushing yourself to, or even a little beyond, what you think your limits are. Pushing yourself and succeeding is such a great feeling, such a rush. "We'll be crushing the miles in NorCal!" Oh no, I'm betting you are traveling through the first heat wave up here with 100+ temps even up on the PCT. I know how that can feel as it was 100 when I left Burney in 2015. Hopefully you're getting plenty water (lots of dry sources in 2015, a drought year).

Nothing like climbing down from elevation into spring again. Another good thing about no snow is no more crazy water crossings where you are on missed step from being washed away. Good luck on your first 30 and don’t push too hard and come up lame.

I think you could make a distinction between "Sierras" vs. High Sierra's. You have a bit of the Sierras to go...to Lake Tahoe, over Donner Summit/Interstate 80, past Castle Peak. When you get to Lassen then you will past the Sierras and starting the Cascades.

You two seem to be dancing over those ups and downs and enjoying every step. The story I listened to that got me interested in the PCT talked about yellow daisies with large leaves called Mule-Ears which I guess are the ones in your opening shot. I recognise some of the other flowers too, the pretty little white and mauve ones are creeping Phlox which I grow in my garden here in England. Always look forward to your next episode 😊

Sorry to keep peppering you guys with questions. In an earlier episode, you mentioned the Sealskin socks. How comfortable are they? Suitable for hiking in, between stream crossings?
