This was a rare find! The Pacific Electric PCC cars featured in another action scene from the film Down Three Dark Streets in 1954. Did anyone notice the officer in the scene at the police station? One of his earliest appearances was in the film All The King's Men. He also starred on a syndicated TV show, Highway Patrol; a program that made "10-4" a national catch phrase. He appeared in a CHiPs episode titled "Hustle". Officers Jon and Ponch (Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada respectively) stop him for a routine traffic violation. Ponch goes nuts realizing that he met one of his childhood heroes, saying "2150 to headquarters" and "10-4"! among other phrases said on Highway Patrol. He's not Jack Webb, but still one of our favorite policemen on early TV. If you're not sure who he is, one of the viewers from one year ago should help you out! 2150...bye!

Wow! Thanks for posting this!!! The Subway Terminal station was shuttered 2 months before I hatched. I had the honor of touring the station in June 1985 on the 30th anniversary of it's closing. It was great to see it in operation through this video. Thanks again!

Wonderful. But the PE car incorrectly blows a whistle in the subway when it would have rung its bell, and rings its bell at a street crossing where it would have used its whistle.

It is astonishing how they squandered the entire Pac Electric system in the 1950's. The momentum in the US to convert all of the electric interurban and streetcar lines to buses was just too strong. Same thing happened in Brooklyn which also had one of the largest streetcar systems in the US - all gone by 1955 or 56, same time period PE was being abandoned.

And to think, the entire subway and terminal would be completely abandoned the following year.

@Civil Defense The last train that ran in the Subway Terminal Building was on June 19, 1955 using PCC trolleys.

I think the abandoned portal was used as a gang hangout in the film Colors.

I don't know what the strange gizmo was, but it'd be handy if it could restore hair!
