These trucks are off road only? Are the mills built close to the unit they are working out of? or do they deck them some place and highway truck haul them to the mills?
@skadill Жыл бұрын
Yes,off road use.They get barged up to remote coastal inlets and haul to the shoreline.Some spend their life on private forest land roads on Vancouver island also
@Pimpdaddy_payne Жыл бұрын
There is a video on KZbin somewhere showing them driving down the road. Of course probably just moving to a different worksite I’d say. But yeah mostly off-road as skadill pointed out most are or were on Vancouver Island. As for the mills from what I understand they haul logs to the shoreline where they will either offload onto a barge or timber ship or put into timber rafts and floated to the mainland for loading onto conventional trucks to take to the mill or even to the mill itself. I don’t know anything about that area as I’m from Kentucky lol so were it goes from the island I’m not sure.

Is there a reason why the engines are uncovered on the sides? One would think that protecting the engines from dust and moisture would be beneficial.
@zacbeardall68104 жыл бұрын
In the mountains you cant protect the engine from the dirt oil and dust best you can do is leave it open for better cooling and easier access to wash it

You don't use these to haul Pecker Poles
@CowSausages7 жыл бұрын
Dee O. Gee Theres a way... and a few private roads... Get 16 ft or whatever the shortest wood this can safely haul, then lay 3 big boys down the bottom, get a big metal grid or something for the poles, and haul it suicide style
@CowSausages7 жыл бұрын
And thats just for fun buddy, youd never actually do that
@stevenwhillans86 жыл бұрын
CowSausages not "street legal" on any roads. off highway use only. i drove 2 for our local mill here with the 12v71 detroits... beasts. we drove it on the highway one time to get it somewhere quick and you can see the pavement flex under the tires.. lol

Only 30” air cans??? That’s a lot-a truck for such small brake cans. Off highway how much will they haul? 50 tons? When I was working for Weyerhaeuser back in the 70’s & 80’s they had a few Kenworths the same size but Cummins(350hp, BIG cam-ll’s) powered and spicer 15 speed manual tranis.
