When he drifted with the Kaiju brain, the Kaiju's figured out how those jeagers worked so they designed specific counters for them. @sold22 It was a counter. One of the main feature that enabled Cherno to keep fighting was his thick armor which protected their con-pod and reactor. If that wasn't compromised, he could still hold on until help arrives. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6qQfWxqic6ib9k If you watch the cool fight, Cherno was holding on and tanking the two kaijus and could have spent longer fighting them if it wasn't for compromised armor. Even with the melting armor, the big kaiju had to put his whole body weight into it to do more damage to the armor. They died because they drowned and the reactor malfunctioned due to water seeping into the reactor. The precursor is smart. Acid for Cherno armor, emp for Striker, 3 fast limbs for Typhoon. The rest is the usual strong muscle and thick armor.

​@@ry7hymit was also America's first Jaeger and despite how brawny it's torso looks, it was actually designed to be more of a mid to long range fighter, it's main weapons were two triple link automatic cannons on its pecks, think the "kiwi cannon" in striker eureka's chest but automatic, supposedly it was based off the A10 warthog's main gun which shoots explosive red bull can sized bullets at 75 rounds a second, just scaled way up to jager size and there were 6 of them lol 😂 very American idea really, pick a gun and build a robot around it! The hands were also designed more for grabbing and holding over punching so it could fire point black while holding a Kaiju in front it, hence the other use of the dumb looking fin, to keep the Kaiju from being able to headbutt or bite the head during such an instance, I might be a bit of a Jaeger fanboy lol

Well it was supposed to be a mid to long range attack jaegar. The fins were actually useless because it did not protect its conn pod( he got his arm ripped and slammed in the conn pod at Seattle against a cat 3). It was actually the heaviest jaegar ever to be built (7775 tons) and surprisingly tacit was 7450tons( even though it was built for speed).

Atlas destroyers paint scheme is in my opinion really cool. Not often you get very sharp and vibrant looking jaegers so it was really cool to see in the anime.
