Me too. Anyone that has both been in the water around here and boated out there can appreciate what a monumental feat this is. Not just the temperature and distance, but incredibly choppy waters. Shark aspect would bother me less; I know they are not interested most of the time

I have dared a lot of things, but this would not be one of them! The sharks, the cold with no wetsuit, the endurance required, but mostly the constant feeling that the sharks would zoom up for dinner(me) would count me out. So to me this is an astonishing feat of bravery!

Yeah that’s wild. I went diving at a local quarry last weekend with a wetsuit (7mm) but accidentally brought my 3mm gloves. At 100 feet is was 45f and my hands started getting numb and tingly. 20 mins in and I could barely move my fingers at all.

I lived in San Francisco for 33 years and know how treacherous those waters are and how far offshore the Farallon Islands are. This feat would be nothing less that miraculous for anyone, but for a 55 year old woman, what Amy has accomplished, is nothing less than the worldwide pinnacle of swimming achievement. Amy should take a bow:-)

@@harrisonbrand8985 It's not about fun it is about taking unnecessary risk with the only reward patting yourself on the back. Doing challenging things and being stupid are different things. Swimming in the Farallon islands is like sleeping on a busy train track in terms of foolish behavior. There are plenty of rewarding things to do in life besides spinning the wheel in an environment you are not and never will be equipped to survive in. I have fished in the area. I know the danger. Only a fool ignores it.
