Late one night while driving back from Lockport with a friend, I saw the Columbus St. crossing activate. I knew it would most likely be an empty PLAINES coal coming off the CN Joliet Subdivision heading into EJ&E's East Joliet Yard. In order to get there, these trains need to pass over the connection track between the CN Joliet Subdivision and the EJ&E Yard. The line is in fairly rough shape consisting of jointed rail. The cars you see behind the coal train are bad-ordered EJ&E cars sitting in EJ&E's H-Yard which years ago, used to be an interchange point of the IC, EJ&E and ATSF.
As for the pace, I switched seats with my friend and he drove while I filmed.
