Don't know if this is just me but I often get a condescending vibe in how Ellie interacts with Katie. Whether that's a patronising laugh at something Katie has said - which was just a normal comment or even how in this video she was pointing out all the things she had bought for her in her home, "even down to Katie's jumper". At the end of the day she's your sister and so what if you help her out a little bit more because of her LD but to sit there and point out everything she didn't buy herself seems quite humiliating for her and came across as very patronising.

Elle clearly dotes on and loves Katie, and has always spoken with her like this because it's likely the way they've always communicated. I doubt Katie feels embarrassed about about her family gifting her things for her new home, considering it's her first home and most people moving out for the first time need a bit of help. Both Elle and Katie constantly give each other positive reinforcement which is nice to see. I think people should be careful about the negative projections from their own experiences that they cast on a relationship that they haven't experienced for themselves.

@@sash9726 The issue isn't about Katie being embarrassed about receiving gifts - most people enjoy receiving gifts as well as giving out gifts but to sit on a platform where you have 610K subs and point out everything someone hasn't bought themselves is belittling. So what if she bought it for her? They're siblings, that's normal but why are you pointing it out on KZbin? Surely Katie knows who bought it for her so what's the point of reiterating it when the camera is recording. It's belittling and humiliating.

@@Aittraf123 Hi Sara, it didn't seem as though Katie was humiliated, nor that she was particularly bothered and engaging in what seems like standard sibling conversation. Elle pointed out quite a few things that Katie had gone and bought herself too, as did Katie. If you perceived it as humiliating behavior, that's on you and your own experiences and perhaps influenced by your own level of pride which there is nothing wrong with, you can be as proud of buying your own things as you wish, but don't then insinuate that someone who has been raised a completely different way and cared for in a completely different manner should also have this negative feeling about pointing out things they were gifted - nor should anyone attempt to make another person appear as if they are being unpleasant towards their family when that clearly isn't the case.
