Pack With Me | How To Pack For A 2 Week Trip With 1 Under-seat Carry-on Bag

Pack with me for my 2 week trip to Zanzibar using just 1 under seat carry on backpack! I share what clothes I will be taking, how I get round liquid allowances and other tips for packing light! (I forgot to mention my camera and there are a few extra items that will need to be packed. Total weight with everything shown in the video is 5kg).

Incredible! I'm going to have to re-think the two 22kg bags I'm allowed on Qatar - so tempting, but don't want to be lugging them from Heathrow to Cambridge. I've still got 8 weeks to plan. Love the idea of packing cubes. Thanks, Kylie.

Thanks! Yes! I actually have 2 x 23kg free checked bags on Emirates but needing that amount of luggage blows my mind for a holiday haha. The only time I flew with a lot of suitcases was when I moved to the US and then when I moved back to the UK 4yrs later! With my backpack I’m hands free if I have to run for my connection flight and I know that my luggage will make it with me as it will be on my back!

Haha thank you! Yeah I might have to! I think I will be OK going out but if I pick up any souvenirs while there then I might have to pocket the heavy stuff!

Great video. I’m going to Greece for a week so will definitely take a small bag now. Do you know what the final weight of your bag was? So many airlines have restrictions for weight as well as size. 😮

Thanks! Eugh I know! I’m flying hand luggage only to Thailand this year…Emirates is 7kg which is no problem but my connection is only 5kg 😱! Total weight for this trip was 6.5kg :) When I have my laptop it puts it up to around 7.5kg so I try not to fly with it on the lower weight trips!

I like the packing cube. Seems very efficient. Where did you get it? Also what are the backpack measurements? I got a 40x30x17 one. It's rectangular and looks like a mini suitcase.

The packing cube is the Travel Hack compression packing cube that’s also done by Cabin Max so it can be bought on their website and on Amazon too. It compresses to 20cm. Backpack is 45x36x20 so slightly bigger than yours!

Hi. Just a couple of questions: I missed the brand of backpack. I’d like to look for something similar. I have a 50L one but thinking a smaller one might work better. But I also need to travel with my laptop for teaching. Second question: what do you do about shampoo/conditioner/face wash/moisturizer? Thanks!

It’s by Cabin Max :) They have a website plus I think you can get some of their bags on Amazon. This one is the Metz 30L. My hotel supplies shampoo and shower gel so for this particular trip I will just use theirs. Otherwise I do have a solid shampoo bar which is just like a bar of soap that bubbles up, I sometimes takes that if the accommodation doesn’t have anything. I don’t always travel with so much bug repellent but I’m already having to take malaria tablets so priorities on this trip! Otherwise I do usually have space for a moisturiser (a small one) or I will buy one when I’m there and then when the suncream bottle is empty (100ml lasts around 8 days for me) I will put the leftover of whatever I buy into that bottle to bring it home, just so I don’t waste it!

I used cabinmax but larger carry on version. Had no issues with postcard devor but when got new one blue it was lost 4 times in 11 months! Time to get another more distictive one again. Was imposdible for almost 1 year to take so little as had no address in uk to keep anything. Ended up buying so many winter things as froze in Turkeys worst winter for 50 yrs..had to just leave it all. Cery nice packing video though. I also have a lot of meds I need ungortunatrly plus ltop etc. Any hint re is there a smaller charger for a ltop available as do large! Powerbank is so great ..used mine 3 years bfore it wore out. Next time wont be taking much makeup .my downfall! Never found any mosquito repellant that eorked except in Sri Lanka but cant remember name!!! Take soap shampoo bars toothpaste powder too..

It got lost 4 times??😱 I take it you had to check it in? I use the 30L because then at least it always flies as an under seat bag (except on Ryanair when I use a 20L). Yeah it’s definitely easier to pack light in warmer countries! I went to Cyprus with this same bag for a week in January and it was freezing. Only just had enough room for 4 days worth of clothes plus my laptop! Deet often works great but I hate it. I go to Thailand in November and everyone recommends getting one there from 7/11, so I will take a small deet just to cover me until I get to 7/11!

@@Betweenengland 4 times yes one on flight twice on icity buses almost but I saw it being loaded or managed to get back then sone walked off at Uk airport with it and brought it back..couldnt believe it lolol. No more checking in. If they ld let me carry it on in first place would ve been ok!!! Loved your video though very inspiring.

Hello! Thanks! I think mine was 6.5kg and I found the weight to be fine. The straps are padded and then there are 2 padded sections where the shoulder blades are and then another across the lower back. I haven’t walked that distance with it yet but I probably wouldn’t have a problem doing so. My other backpack that’s just under 30L has no padding and that wasn’t great carrying when it was 8kg!

You do not !! Have enough clothes. Need more.. no skirts . 1 dress. Easy sandals. 1 nice light weight could go .. where are your at least 1 slacks ?

I don’t even own dresses or skirts 😂 And I’m not sure why I would want to wear trousers in 36c, but I did pack the giant parachute pant type bottoms that almost look like a skirt/trousers combined (the black and blue ones). No need for sandals, there wasn’t a nightlife scene, most people were just barefoot or wore flip flops (which I did take but as I said in the video I was wearing them right up until I left). Not really the destination to need those things, but thanks for commenting. I actually had plenty of clothes and wore everything I took 😊

Thank you! It was such a great trip! Oh I 100% agree, citronella NEVER works for me so that's something I wouldn't recommend haha!
