Package Strapping/banding Machine fun

Playing with an old strapper that work gave me, it had been a bit unreliable for the last couple of years and finally broke the cycle start trigger spring. it works for now and will probably find a home here or get sold off as surplus soon.
It may have not responded early on if it had a warmup cycle to go through.
I will do a proper non-destructive autopsy on it soon.

those things are pretty twitchy they need a lot of maintenance (mainly a lot of cleaning) I used to be a maintenance tech for those things worked on that exact type pretty cool to see one open again

I deal with one of these nightly. Costing more in downtime than it’s worth at this point. It payed for itself in the first week though. Boss doesn’t seem to understand , it would be much more beneficial to give up on the crappy service responses and just upgrade

The ones we have at work are the arch type that you just stick what you want to strap through and press the pedal, you don't have to feed the strap through manually. Can adjust the tension and everything.

Hi, I have a similar machine(smaller size) . I have an issue because does not cut the tape. Tensions strap, trigger switch but does not cut the tape. Any ideea what could it be ?

are you still working on those BSA engines. i think those engines are really cool and would be very reliable. they are pretty much the same size cc engines as my dirtbikes.

Can the tension of the strap be adjusted, so your not destroying boxes?

Yes, you can. If you look at the internal shots in the video, you'll see that in the upper right corner there is a metal pipe that extends through a hole at the back of the machine, this is there to allow the operator to adjust the clutch.

Ts6451 yep. we had it at max to demonstrate how much force they can apply, once wound down it works perfectly on cardboard.

Thats strange, the banding machines I work with, does not use elements to weld, it uses friction. much simpler and mopre reliable

Pitney Bowes seem to screw up everything they touch. Royal mail here in the UK subbed some of their online postage printing out to them and the dang thing keeps asking for a county/state/province: None of which are part of the address

I think that Ed was making a reference to the "Global Shipping Program" scam that is run jointly by ebay and Pitney Bowes. It's a complete fraud, especially to Canadian buyers, in that they they charge taxes and duty on products where there are no taxes or duty. Then there is the other half where they do exactly what Ed implied, they take items out of their original packaging, and transfer it to a smaller package so they can ship them at a lower rate, and they also mark down the value so they don't have to forward the money they collected from you for duty and taxes to the respective governments. In the Ebay and Pitney Bowes world this is a profitable enterprise, in the real world it's called fraud, conspiracy, and tax evasion, but what else can we expect from an outfit that aids and abets auction fraud and money laundering? The Royal Mail should divorce themselves from these weasels as soon as possible.

OlegKostoglatov oh it happens, my ML270 power window console switch assembly had its package cut open, bubble wrap removed, and retaped with Pitney Bowes "repackaged goods" tape. it barely made it here intact! the carton was badly damaged and it was only the robust nylon plastic of the switch assembly that prevented breakage. the panel did have one wrap of bubble inside the carton but that was a thin factory layer, not meant for international shipping. When I queried the seller... "I had the whole thing double wrapped in bubble wrap filling the bag" when I got it, whole shipping bag was taped to the box with Pitney bowes tape, and with no padding.
