I've had another very important bit of mail, though it had to sit on my bench for a while because I was travelling for work. Watch along as I unbox the package.

That's a terrific gift bundle, Congrats!! You'll possibly find that Pinvice has double-ended collets & that it'll hold all of those small twist drill sizes too. HTH, Colin

Thanks for the tip Colin! You're right, the collets are reversible, and a different size at the other end! I might never have spotted that.

Thanks for the video. I think the object is an ice pick.

It's blunt at the end. Wouldn't the tip of a ice pick usually be sharp? Thanks for the suggestion.

I did not see the blunt end. I do agree it's a nice bit of work.

Colin McGlade I believe it is actually a German knitting needle, I kept the other for myself, I liked the blacksmith twist also

I thought it was a marlinspike or a fid for rope work, to help separate strands of rope to insert another strand through when making eyelets or other ropework.

Hi Lance & Patrick, glad you enjoyed this. I'm delighted to discover pinion wire exists, and can't wait to try it out. I need to do some reading to working out the DP / Module number of the pinions. (or I'll guess using some calipers :) )

Active atom sent me over. I’m teaching myself machining using a lathe with a 180mm swing. It’s pretty slow going having only videos and books to work from, but channels that utilize smaller machines have been extremely helpful. Looking forward to working my way through your archives.

Ha! I just emailed you today because I thought that customs had seized your goodies! There should be one more item, I superglued a wrench into the figures hands, it might be in the flaps of the box. The ice pick is an inspiration purchase from watching jimmy Diresta, watch his channel for endless uses. Some of these items will hopefully help with your path towards a lubrication system !

Don't worry, I got the wrench, though the superglue came unstuck as soon as I opened it. It must have shaken loose in transit. I'll re-attach it before i set him to work.

Hi Im thinking about getting the Proxxon 250 to cut wheels for my G scale trains. what is the largest diameter that can be cut on the 250?

It can comfortably machine anything up to 30mm. Above that you have to be a bit more careful, and I'd say the practical limit is somewhere around 60-70mm depending on the material. I have managed to turn some 80mm round stock using inventive work-holding, but was really hairy, and I don't think it did much good to the spindle bearings.
