Poori Urulaikkizhangu, as we say in Tamizh, has always been our favourite rail time food. Train travel in itself, was something we looked forward to Adding to the delight was the food we took from home. Waiting for the co passengers to start their eating, unpacking our items, having it in small plates, sometimes two of us sharing in the same plate, etc... are still very much in our memories. And Poori urulaikkizhangu is still the much preferred for train travel..... We thoroughly enjoyed watching the video. Hoping to get such an experience soon, for ourselves too....

Even my husband and my kid like poori urulaikizhanhu. But if they dare to ask for the train journey then I would break the house. I don't know why, train journey gives me panic attack even before 24 hrs. I would be in complete 😤 mood!!! I wonder how come our moms were super cool in handling all the situations!!!

@@kirtid-explorer1315 Hi dear, my idli always turns soft and here is my no-fail recipe. 3 cups raw rice, 1 cup whole urad, 1 cup poha - wash & soak all these separately for at least 4 hours. Use the water in which urad is soaked, to grind the batter. First grind urad to a fluffy batter by adding water little by little. Transfer this into a vessel. Now grind rice & poha together in batches and add the batter to the urad batter. Once grinding is done, add little salt and mix the batter very well with your clean hands for 5 minutes. This is to incorporate air in the batter. Keep it for 8-12 hours for fermentation. You can make idli & dosa with the same batter.

@@kirtid-explorer1315 Here is my gun powder recipe: 1 cup urad dal, 1 cup masoor dal, 1/2 cup moong dal, 10 dry red chillies (you can add or reduce the number of chillies based on your spice level), hing - 1/2 tablespoon. Dry roast all dals and chillies separately in a kadai and allow it to cool. Once it is cool enough, grind all these together by adding hing powder and required quantity of salt into a fine powder. Mix it with til oil while serving🥰
