Tortuga doesn’t ship outside of the US. What a bummer

Was waiting for you to put all your items in the Lite but it didnt happen, so still not sure they actually fit!!

I finally got down to 5 packs, Tortuga 40 pro was at bottom. Glad I circled back and looked into lite ver. it has enough checkmarks to close the deal. And at only $250 Honorable mentions to PAKT 35l V2, TomBihn Tech 30, PeakDesign 30. For their costs, didn’t like what had to surrender in their designs. The Farpoint is to outdoorsy but props it can do light dbl duty like that and at very nice price. I dont camp enough tho.

What 4 bags did you rate above the Tortuga?

IMHO the Peak Design 30L's shoulder straps are incredibly narrow, thin, and uncomfortable. Definitely was a dealbreaker when I tried it out.

The Osprey Daylite has a luggage carry strap built into the strap system. The hole that is also the carry handle in where you put it over your luggage handle.

My preferences are opposite to yours. The larger vertical external pocket would be great for quick access to cold weather clothing - jacket, gloves, hat. An admin panel is a must for me. Since this is a 40L bag, I don't think a pound difference is a big deal. When the bag is full it will be a lot heavier than 3.5/4.5 lbs. The adjustability of the shoulder straps is an important feature for a customized fit.

Agreed. I don’t necessarily use an admin pocket for “admin” stuff but I miss it on my Osprey Fairview 40… The only thing I’m not too keen on with the Pro is the xpac-y crinkly material, I prefer the ballistic nylon of the Lite.

Admin panel? Bruh. No comment. But you’re not fitting a thick cold weather jacket in ANY bag’s outer sleeve. But lite has room for gloves, hats and etc.

Having to use extra pouches and things will add more weight so not really saving much weight by getting rid of the admin pocket 😑 The lite seems smaller than the Pro as well. I don't like that the lite has a small front pocket either. I agree with someone else in the comments that it's a great place in the Pro to store quick grab items like hat, gloves, sweatshirt, etc. Lite front pocket is too small for that so it'll take up space in the main compartment and won't be quick access. Also an admin pocket is a must not only for tech gear but also other quick grab items like headphones, book/Kindle, nintendo switch, other large quick grab items. Maybe they are thinking travelers will use a secondary bag for these things? Idk. I'm grateful for this review. I'll stick to my slightly heavier Pro version. I was looking forward to the stowable straps but it's not necessary for me.

@@PackHacker2not sure what is it with ppl and admin pockets?? I’d love to see a poll. I feel like it’s a boom er relic.😂 FYI only thing ur review is missing is Lite ver lack of rigidity allows it to stow like a champ…including under seat/cramped spots.

Good point. Love to see folks go for crazy technical fabrics that save them half a pound and then throw a ton of heavy pouches, hero clips, and patches into and onto their packs. I'll take an extra pound for crazy comfort and adaptability any day, especially with a 30L or 40L bag.

The lite has to be smaller with those small zipper compartments. It overall appears smaller

I think the dimensions are the same. I just wish she had packed the Lite version with the stuff she pulled out of the Pro version so we would know for sure.

I would have liked to see the stuff transferred like you said. Also hard to trust someone on laptop protection when they put their laptop upside down on the table... Your laptop being the frame sheet can't be good for it?

hello, does the 40L or 30L of the packs have hip pockets that can store a cellphone? What size phone can it hold?
