I love this so much. I don’t know why. Lol I’ve never been into Barbie much but this is just precious. ❤️ Then again, any video where you’re doing your soft spoken narration is pretty much a 10/10 for me. It’s so relaxing and tingle inducing. 😁

The Barbie movie was a reclamation of the feminist voice, making the Barbie doll an inclusive part of female empowerment, despite Mattel's years of being criticized for creating a doll that epitomizes impossible beauty standards for women. The movie overturned those criticisms and focused on Barbie's many accomplishments - dolls created for kids to imagine in different careers like medicine, law, science, etc. The Barbies in the movie are all happy in those various careers and are fulfilled with friendships with other Barbies. They don't really need their Ken counterparts, except as a fun distraction. When Barbie and Ken move into the real world and Ken finally learns about patriarchal standards, he finally feels 'respected' and returns to Barbieland to help the other Ken dolls take over and push patriarchal standards on the Barbies, forcing them to play housewives and maids, rather than have successful careers and friendships with other Barbies. Barbie has to return to fix things and tells Ken to find his own identity, separate from her. True to feminist standards, Barbie finds her own voice. In the end, Barbie decides to return to the real world and human form and finally has real body parts, going to her first gyno appointment. It's the one thing Barbie always lacked, but now she's living the real experience.
