I have designated travel stuff, so I can prepack because I don't need to use anything I also need to pack. And, my toiletries are ALL decanted into much smaller containers. Nothing says your toiletries need to be in those awful Amazon kits. Safe travels!

If you wanna bring souvenirs or something you buy there I recommend packing clothes that you're about to donate/throw away to use it for the last time on the trip and not bring them back home. Then you'll have extra room :) I did that when I went to Europe for 6 weeks in winter travelling with a carry on and a personal item. I knew my boots and my pyjamas were not coming back.

Unfortunately for long trip summer winter have to take store of meds abd really thicker clothes so doesnt work for me but would still try to take 2 0.5 30l bags to carry on ...just for convenience. Sometimes cheaper to go eith a group too and more comfy.. as you say depends what country...

I also have designated travel clothing and I have been using bar shampoo for travel for two years now - put sunscreen in the small travel bottles

Have a regular sized carry on suitcase and a backpack for a personal item

I went to mexico in 2020 & forgot my sunscreen…. Heads up it will cost you $30 & up to buy sunscreen there!!! The resort we stayed on was an all inclusive and the store they have charge high prices for sunscreen because they know you definately will need it. Safe travels. Please take a small stick form of sun protection
