I am known as the chick that brings the power tower and extension cord. Another lady always brings a full size fan - we love it! I like bringing my sidekick and alpha dies for making titles but I know my consultant always has her cuttlebug (CTMH version) for all of us to use. She also brings cardstock to sell so that reduces the amount of cardstock I need to bring. It has taken some trial and error but our retreat group pretty much as supplies and organization figured out. We still look like a wagon train coming into the hotel but we do not bring as much as we used to. :-)

I got the biggest kick out of your video. So reminds me of me. I certainly need to think and repack for this weekend crop coming up, you are so right I need to organize. Good video. Thank you

I love making my own kits when I go to crops. After a few years and getting older, lol, I realized I don’t need the kitchen sink! Thanks for other tips! ❤️

As a child in the 1950s we started camping every Christmas & so my mother developed a list after the first trip away & taking things not needed or forgetting things we did need. It was on a sheet of cardboard that had come as packaging in a shirt. This was kept in a plastic bag with the camping gear up in the loft of the garage, so that each year it was taken down & used to make sure nothing important was forgotten. So when I became an adult I had learnt to keep a list!! This I still do when I have things to go to etc, it is the way my mind has developed from my early days of watching my mother & boy am I glad I have developed that habit over the years. The lists were kept in the same place so that I never lost them. So scrapbooking weekends were no different, I spent the weekend before working out what I wanted to do & preparing for it, then sitting down & making my list, adding to it any medications I might now have to take or other tweaks, like my now gluten free diet!! It is basically how I have lived all my adult life & works well for me especially as over the past few years I have had memory issues develop!! Something to make you smile - Mum's list also contained the condiments that we liked to eat when on holidays as you had fresh bread every day. So a new tin of golden syrup, a large bottle of honey, a large new jar of vegemite & later came a large jar of crunchy peanut butter. 🤣🤣🤣 Oh, & don't forget the Christmas & New year's puddings & of course the LARGE Christmas cake!!🤣

It sounds like you have many wonderful memories, and that you know the value of a good packing list!

Lots of wisdom here, Andrea. I go to 2 five day crops a year, and I’m one of those gals who brings everything but the kitchen sink lol!! Enjoyed the video.

This is so super helpful Andrea. I am a "have boot (trunk), will fill" type of packer. You are spot on with the prep and planning for a workshop or retreat. Loved this - and your goldilocks analogy!

I stumbled across your channel tonight. Wow! I am definitely glad I did. I am Goldilocks with the too hard and too soft. I am going to take your video to heart and prepare ahead of time. It makes sense. I am paying to crop so why waste my money and not use my time effectively (although sometimes I just need a change of scenery and gabbing time with my friends)

Welcome to my channel, I'm glad you found me. Cropping is mostly about being with my friends too, but getting a few things done always makes me feel better. I think a little planning helps me to not feel so stressed and to be able to get things accomplished. Have fun at your crop!

My problem is planning layouts! I know what photos I'm taking but I don't plan my paper until I get to my retreat and look at colors, vibes, etc. Hence why I always take too much paper.
@AndreaSherman_GIRLplusPAPER9 ай бұрын
Start with planning out just one set of photos and gather just the paper you need. See how that works for you on that one project. Next, crop, plan 2, until you are more comfortable. It all comes down to planning what paper may work ahead of the crop, not at it :)

So I am going on a retreat this weekend and just packed 3/4 of my stuff…. I’m going to repack tomorrow! I made a list a few years ago and I STILL take way too much. I always take too much paper.
@AndreaSherman_GIRLplusPAPER9 ай бұрын
Packing is always a work in progress for all of us! Even if you packed a few projects into those big bags the first time (along with your other stuff as a comfort thing) and then saw how those projects got you through it might change the way you pack.

Great tips Andrea! I have that CTMH luggage and it is so handy! I used to bring everything and I’ve gotten a lot more streamlined over the years. You are right, you do get way more done when you aren’t taking a day to set your whole craft room up 😂

Hi Andrea!! Thank you so much for your video...I always forget a seat cushion...and I do tend to bring too much, but it is all organized and planned...and I'm not getting any younger so I need to work on less weight...Thanks again my friend!

Hi Wendy! Thanks for watching the video. I would guess that you get a lot done if you bring a lot but are still organized about it.

The other thing is, when people bring SO MUCH stuff, it crowds out the room, walk ways, fellow scrapbookers and your space too which is usually very limited. I love that when I go I don’t have to carry in a ton of stuff or extend my craft area into the walkways. Great tips!
@AndreaSherman_GIRLplusPAPER9 ай бұрын
Thank you. I agree, that much stuff can be a tripping hazard. Sometimes the shelves and bags are so high on the table, croppers can’t even see their friends :(

Great ideas Andrea! It so true you can have too much or not enough packed. Whenever I take the time to do some planning ahead I always get way more done!

Andrea, thank you so much for this video. I’m going to a week long retreat in July. I’m currently working on printing all my photos. I don’t like waiting until the last minute to plan because stress takes all the fun out of a retreat. I also take easy and hard projects because at night , I’m still wanting to scrapbook but not a 4 or 5 double page layout. I’ll have February thru June to decide on paper packs, stickers, stamps and inks and slip them in clear bags. And come July, no stress…..I love your idea on the clear waterproof bags 💕

Great tips Andrea! And timely too as I am going to a weekend crop in a couple weeks! (Actually hosting it with some other makers!) I’ve gotten better over the years, but I used to be like the gal in the beginning with all the stuff! 😂😂
@AndreaSherman_GIRLplusPAPER9 ай бұрын
I'm guilty of bringing extra stuff too, when I don't plan. Usually I still don't have what I need even with all that stuff. I had one scrapper, years ago, that brought everything, and I am not kidding...everything she owned.

Great tips! I have not invested in that luggage, I think I need to. I still use my big rolling tote and it is super cumbersome.

That luggage is truly so well made and sturdy, but more importantly, it is so easy to manage.

I'm horrible at planning but after seeing your tips and how much can fit into those two Carry All Cases, I think I can get it done! Might have to in May if we decide to create during our trip 😊
@AndreaSherman_GIRLplusPAPER9 ай бұрын
You can do it! it’s really easy if you keep some of those items that you have duplicates of packed. and limiting yourself to those two cases means you aren’t packing so much that you are distracted.
