GREAT timing for this video. I have been trying to figure out the best way to pack for the days I go out on my buddies boat and this helps a lot. I have a lot better idea now of what to pack, how to pack and what to leave behind. Like you said, not your typical video but EXTREMELY practical and useful never the less. Those Plano Edge boxes are AWESOME for Terminal because you can grab different pouches from different boxes and put them into one box to reduce the number of full size boxes you need to carry. Thanks again Matt!!!!

I travel a lot for work and I have four of the Okuma Citrix rods. I usually take a casting and a spinning rod. I'm typically going to be fishing park ponds, rivers, sometimes there's a bigger lake. I'll take 6,10,15 lb. leader. I take jigs/trailers, senkos, creatures, half a dozen crankbaits, terminal gear. Sometimes I take some trout and pan fish gear and swap out the 15 for 4lb. I've caught fish all over the country on this gear. Keeping selection simple, watermelon, green pumpkin, black and blue work everywhere. There are crawdads and minnows everywhere, and frogs. I take a small selection of imitations. It all packs in my checked bag and fits in a single strap shoulder bag.

I can remember fishing both the delta (Rio vista, Martinez and Antioch) and Clear Lake back in the 70s. I modify my tackle if going up north or doing some trout/pan fishing. Great advice for those traveling and great ideas on what to bring. We don't always need the kitchen sink to fish with. Lol

Re-watch to pack for upcoming trip to Chickamauga! Still terrific information but I think you, Matt, might have changed tackle bags since this was made. Invaluable for my Feb 3-10, 2024 trip to Baccarac with BigFishBullies and Pro Bass adventures. seats available in my group of 10.

Great video, thanks! I am a musky fisherman, but I use a very similar approach, and the same exact Plano waterproof case. I keep musky baits in a bunch of 3700 sized tray boxes and pick 3 or 4 for a trip in the boat. I even go another step and label everything and place replacement trebles in all of the trays in case I have to cut hooks, etc. But it's the same approach. Solid video, thanks... I'm not a bass guy and don't even know what some of the rigs you use are, but some of your videos are helpful regardless of target species, like this one.

Excellent Video! Now I have a even bigger problem to solve..... I have six 7' MH casting rods, various brands, two 7' MH Spinning rods. All the casting reels are Diawa TWS 6:3's (one is 7:3) and Spinning are Carbonlite 2500's? size (I'm very unoriginal but I am buying a swimbait/big bait rod and reel next, for the 3-5oz baits) .... What line would you put on each of these if you wanted to be able to remain flexible and thro everything? Right now, some have braid, Fluro, Mono and one is Nanobraid to fluro for drop shot. Could this be a video? Have I conveyed my question ok? I have a boat but I also keep this quantity to remain a less burdensome co-angler. Thank you guys.

Like a lot of guys are saying, this is GREAT timing! Question: between that Plano Z-Series bag and the Guide Series 3700 (the regular one, not the XL), which one would you recommend as a bag to carry to a buddy's boat or to keep in the trunk?
@tacticalbassin3 жыл бұрын
Both are great bags but I went Z-series because it sheds water. You just never know when a pop up storm will light you up and I don't enjoy laying EVERYTHING out after a trip to try and dry it 😂

@tacticalbassin3 жыл бұрын
There are very few heavy travel rods and nothing on the budget side. Best bet would be to go custom. Obviously custom won't be budget but you could pull it off mid-priced. We've used @bpm_custom_rods on Instagram for our custom travel setups.
